Great pub. Bags of atmosphere. Sports screens, pool table. Live music. Rooms very pleasant, well appointed and clean. If music is on it is still loud in the bedrooms so don't plan on an early night. As soon as music finished (10.30-11pm?) no issues, generally a quiet area. Some parking to rear (narrow bays) also on the road outside or across the road. If planning to eat here in the evening may be prudent to check first if the kitchen will be open. I gather they have variable hours
If you have plans to sleep early is definitely not the best place, the live music in the pub does not let you. the double bed are 2 single mattresses together and of very poor quality
Michelle put herself out to accommodate my gluten free diet. All staff are so friendly and helpful. Sunday roasts beautiful. Will be back.

Grey horse darlington very best pub in darlington i stayed the night beautiful rooms very clean so quiet lovely shower ect ,i ll always stay here loads better than premier inn and loads cheaper I ve been in just about every pub in darlington but the grey horse is by very far the best pub in darlington wayne nice lad owner and deanna well she is so funny lovely welcome personallity and down to earth and everyone is friendly nice beer beautiful very very clean pub family pub kids sports bar lads pool table brand new bandits darts ect and big inside beautiful patio doors to sitting area outside and car park deanna is bloody funny great lass good at her job too. Live entertainment which wayne sorted last min as let down and hustle food bloody gorgeous different and beautiful chilli hotdog steak ect gorgeous matthew and elise are great what a fab day and night i had too many pints so bit rough today π€£π€£ wayne you done great job lovely pub lovely staff and cleaners as place is spotless i ll be back good few timds a year i go darlington as best mate lives there thank you graeme lesner πππππ

We needed local accommodation to attend a funeral. From late night welcome to automatic exit the Grey Horse and staff were excellent. Sure, it's a fantastic north east pub so there's a bit of 80s pop through the floor but not uncivilized. The welcome from the barkeep was faultless. As if greeting old friends yet wholly professional. Lo and behold, a different barkeep the next day asked how the funeral went. Stay if you want to understand how the north east ticks and what it truely values

Just walked to Grey Horse from. Sadberge and had 2 cracking pints of cider and guiness and 2 fab beef Sunday lunches. We were in Darlo. to see Justin Hayward, needed an hotel, this one wasn't the least expensive,nor was it the dearest. The room was what you'd expect.it was 'en suite' had a bed, was clean & warm, the staff very friendly. Definitely coming here next time I need a stop-over in Darlington.
Stayed in the accommodation available above the bar for a few days over the New Year,and would just like to thank Wayne and all his staff for looking after us. Also great bar with reasonable prices.

Nice clean, comfy rooms. Great car parking. Lovely food just a shame we couldn't have breakfast as the chef doesn't start til 12! Would definitely stay again though, the Post Office a few doors up does fab hot sandwiches π
For a cheap, budget room no complaints. Clean, friendly staff, bar downstairs, car parking. Would stay again.
Stayed here to go to cockerton for a wedding blessing after 30yrs. After ring numerous taxi, the manger asked a local to take us and he obliged which was amazing!!. What a friendly pub this is.
Got back to the pub and the manager gave us another drink, Elisa was an absolute star behind the bar and cleaning and Kelly too.
The two girls girls waited outside for a taxi for over an hour so we opened the window and kept an eye on them.
Great pub and rooms will come back again x
