This is a nice cafe right in the centre of Darlington. The breakfast was excellent and plenty of it. Very clean with polite and efficient staff. Good price too. Thanks!

Nice independent coffee shop with refreshingly nice coffee, staff out loverly and really good with all there vivid responsibility, decor is a little dated, if it was updated it could be a little treasure trove off a place

Popped into this lovely cafe today for a spot of lunch and to escape the rain! We were immediately greeted by a very friendly lady who I think was the manager, she sat us down and gave us our menus. Food came very quickly and was delicious….club sandwich highly recommended! This coffee shop is run to a very high standard, with all the staff working as a team. Cleanliness was excellent with tables cleaned thoroughly and surrounding floors swept. Sunday lunch looked fabulous, we’ll be back soon to give it a try!

Very central location, you can’t have more central than this, in the food market. There are tables in the street, inside and there is a 1st floor, very light and agreeable. So you’ll sure to find a place somewhere. When busy, the service can be very slow. The food was nice, however the soup was a bit strange (tomato bean and pepper).

We discovered the Waterhouse kitchen recently (I have been walking around the area for the last few years but had somehow missed it) and found the food and experience brilliant. We were greeted politely at the door and the staff made sure that we had a good table upstairs. The waiting time was minimal. The food was very tasty (we had full English), with good eggs with golden yolks, grilled bacon, fried sausages, good mushrooms, hash browns, tomatoes, toast and baked beans. We really enjoyed the food and the staff did come and ensure that we were fine. The Sunday roasts looked very tasty and we look forward to trying that very soon. Bottom line: I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend the Waterhouse kitchen.

Had driven past many times as sign is right at road end but careful watching let us find it and its a delight which we will now use on trips between Yorkshire and Edinburgh
