Best-kept culinary secret in the Darlingtown.
Santorini Cafe & Restaurant at 44 Tubwell Row is our favorite place to eat in town because the owner and chef, Georgios Latousakis, sources the best quality ingredients and prepares his food with passion and love. Here is exceptional Greek cuisine taken to another level; his attention to detail and perfectionism are featured in every dish he creates. His baby back ribs are baked at low temperature for 7 hours, the tender, succulent meat falls off the bone. His latest creation is a “parmo” but not as you know it. (For those outside of the North East, “parmo” is a bastardization of chicken parmigiana) The meat is marinated for 12 hours and Georgios uses perfect béchamel and the cheese of your choice, in Nev’s case last night it was a 3 year old Stilton. Rather than frying twice, it is finished in the oven for a lighter, healthier dish. Moussaka, a frequently disappointing dish in other restaurants, exceeds all expectations, holding together with hearty consistency, the flavors melding together. Georgios makes his own bread, including a painstaking sourdough. He knows the grower of his organic rice, personally, as well as the farmer who supplies the award-winning eggs for his highly caffeinated and home-style tiramisu. His new offering is a beetroot slaw prepared with yogurt instead of the much-abused (in the UK at least) mayo and as a fan of slaw I know it is a hit. Georgios has worked in a three star Michelin restaurant in London, and was voted three years in a row best foreign chef in Beijing (“An Eternal Pot” is China’s ultimate cooking prize).
The unpretentious dining room has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere, reminiscent of a seaside taverna on a Greek isle. Georgios is a warm and welcoming host, quick to share his enthusiasm for the food. Be sure to come hungry because the portions are generous and real value for money.
A truly fantastic place to eat! Great atmosphere, very clean and the food is amazing!! We had the meze to start...all homemade and very tasty!...followed by the lamb kofte, mousSaka and then tiramisu and baklava for dessert. It's the best Greek restaurant I've ever been to!....I would highly recommend it and we will certainly be going again ! The staff are fabulous....very friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Without doubt it lives up to its great reviews!

Only been once and it was after I came back from Rhodes in Greece! It was lush!! Deffo recommend! Lovely friendly staff too.
Friendly, family run restaurant with a great reputation which doesn't disappoint. Spotlessly clean and lovely home cooking. The Mousakka is delicious and the Tiramisu to die for. Thanks for a wonderful culinary experience, Santorini.

Been many times now, absolutely gorgeous food, freshly prepared and totally delicious! Couldn't recommend enough! Excellent!!
Lovely place to eat. Food was very tasty and portions were generous. We really enjoyed our meal. Good service and fair prices. Unfortunately, there was only one other customer on a Saturday evening, peak time.
Also worth a mention that the toilet was spotless and everything from wipes to sanitary products available.
I was surprised by the quality of the food here. Same as in Greece and very good service also. I enjoyed eating in a relaxed place. Highly recommended!
Food and service were excellent. Atmosphere given 4 stars as my husband and me were the only occupants
Such a shame as we loved the place
First time we've ordered a takeaway from here, and it won't be the last. The Gyros were the best I've ever eaten and the Santorini chips were amazing.
Absolutely fabulous dining experience 👌 the staff were lovely and very accommodating to my dietary requirements. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back 😍

Visited with two friends very nice welcoming staff it’s small and cosy venue I’d recommend beef stifado some of the best Greek food I’ve had outside of Greece
Tried this after reading some "hidden gem" reviews, they were not wrong.
The food was amazing, up there with some of the nicest Greek I've had outside of Greece! Atmosphere inside is lovely especially on a dark night where all the lights are on.
Just had a takeaway order from here and it was genuinely brilliant - best takeaway food we’ve had in ages!
Great tasting food, served in very generous portions. Everything from the tzatziki to the chicken, to the pita was awesome.
I went to collect the order and the service was brilliant, the staff (including the manager) were all very friendly and welcoming (despite it being the end of the day). I look forward to dining in some time soon!
Couldn’t recommend it enough :)
