Awesome meal this evening. We sat outside soaking in the sunshine in the beer garden. The staff were truely fantastic. They were warm and friendly. Ah but the food...so good! We had planned to just grab a quick meal but after seeing the menu we ended up with 3 courses. The arancini was hands up the tastiest I've EVER had and I've sampled many over the years. Our main courses were just as tasty. We had salted caramel ice cream to finish with a hot chocolate brownie. Pudding heaven! What a wonderful find today so glad we stopped spur of the moment. I can't wait for our next visit! Brilliant place
called in for a drink on spec on a Monday night half sixish and it was busy. How great that an out of the way bar/restaurant can be so busy during the week. Took the hint as a recommendation so ordered food. Draught beer great, food even better, value even better.
Thanks
This is the perfect place if you like lake districts only a short trip from pooley bridge in a small village with perfect views. Excellent food and beer. Very friendly & Emma behind bar is very helpful and friendly. Pubs dog friendly too we have been a couple of times and can’t wait to visit again
I just love this pub. It has everything - well kept beer and my favourite cider (Stowford Press), great wines (particularly love the Primitivo), fantastic food, friendly staff, all in a beautifully restored characterful pub in a lovely village.
This a gorgeous little pub, food looks amazing and the beer is great! Amazing views out the back, great place

Good honest to goodness food well cooked and all with a friendly smile. Would certainly recommend this place.
Great venue, fine ales, wonderful team!! A must to visit if you are passing along the A66 by Penrith or if you want to hook off M6 for a relaxing pint in the beautiful Cumbrian countryside. Highly recommended!
Been to Beer Burger & Sausage festival today Burger was excellent Beer selection great if your after good food and beer call in
Absolutely love the newly refurbed Horse & Farrier. It has a great ambience and we’ve been made to feel very welcome. Highly recommend it.
Absolutely lovely evening in a truely inspirational place.
Already planning the next visit !
Fantastic refurbishment of the pub - Great food, great beers, friendly staff and comfortable setting. Can’t ask for much more! Look forward to returning in the future
Wow what a fantastic place , I’d relocate to this village purely for this pub
Great to have our local open again, with great atmosphere and fab food with great couple running it . Good luck team
Great local pub. Becs & George are the best! Thanks so much for the great chats & your wonderful hospitality. I hope to see you both again one day x
Dog friendly cosy and welcoming. Fab gastro pub quality food, a real find.
Outstanding for food and drinks. Beautiful restaurant which was a surprise when we walked in. Lovely outdoor area to enjoy in better weather.
The food is amazing. Great menu and specials board. Service was warm and friendly. Total hidden gem. Flat Iron steak and the burger were particularly good!
Well, what a lovely pub. Me and the family really enjoyed our visit. The was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Took a picture of our finished plates rather then the before photo because you just need to know that we finished it.
One of the best pubs in the Lake District! As you come off the A66 you really feel like you are entering the late district yet conveniently very close to Penrith.
It has a fantastic atmosphere of a country pub with the fire almost always going, it has certainly provided great respite in the winter months when I might have been less prepared for the cold weather.
Just visited again more recently in March and the food was delicious. I have the venison burger off the specials board (although a lamb shank is always tempting) and fortunately we opted to share a treacle tart for dessert that's the portion was humongous!
The staff are always super friendly and I would recommend to anyone as a fantastic pub to stop in at. It isn't the biggest of pubs so if you do want to eat I would recommend ringing ahead and booking a table.
A friendly, welcoming pub. Well cooked food with excellent service. A boring menu of pub classics - burger, fish and chips, sticky toffee pudding etc, with limited vegetarian / vegan options, is the reason this isn't a 5* review. Friendly, attentive service and good value.
Lovely food, prompt service a very friendly welcoming pub, to say it was our first visit. Will definitely go back.

Fantastic pub, friendly service, 3 different seating areas for all weathers, cosy armchairs by the fire, bright dining room and enclosed beer garden. Food lovely, shandy's nice and cold and dog friendly in parts. nice stop off and loads of foot paths around the area.
What a great find! We were staying at a campsite nearby and came across this brilliant pub. You will need to book as it is popular! I had a venison burger in a great (ciabatta?) bun that held together while eating perfectly! Finished with a gooey meringue pavlova. They have a good selection of beers and we got a brilliant window seat with a spectacular view!
Great Sunday roast and the sticky toffee pudding was really spectacular. Great views from the dining room and nice atmosphere, Totally worth a stop if your in the area.
I cannot recommend this small North Lakes pub enough. Five craft ales on tap, very tasty food and wonderful service. When we went it was full to the gills (which is a testament to how good it is), so if you want to go, book ahead!
We were recommended this pub by a member of the crew on the Aira Force shuttle boat and it definitely didn't disappoint. The staff were friendly and the steaks we had were melt-in-the-mouth amazing.
