We were down in the area to take part in the Lakeland 50 running festival and wanted something to eat in preparation for our weekend.
First up we had breakfast and what a treat, great service (we had a joke and a laugh), no hassle and awesome value for money.
We popped in for lunch on our way back up the road on the Sunday and I opted for the Roast Turkey Dinner, in a word, 'phenomenal'
The gravy was the best I've tasted in a long time, kudos to John in the kitchen for this...bravo Sir!
Most definitely will be returning when next in the area. Recommended dining experience. Thank you.
We booked the private alpaka walk with Terry. It was from the first to last minute great fun for both the children and the adults. Terry told us many interesting things about lamas and alpakas and the most important thing we found out was the following: In the morning a gate is being opened to a paddock and the alpakas who are willing to go for a walk with the people can gather there. As reason of this it is secured, that all alpakas who go walk, are there on their free will and are forced to nothing.
The alpakas are so nice and easy to handle, the whole family fell in love with them.
In the farm store a lot of home-made things are available e.g. homemade cakes, ham, bacon and good coffee.
Thank you Terry and Team for the great time we spend in basecamp north lakes!
Really lovely wee cafe ... didn't try the Sunday lunch, but it looked fabulous.... Just had coffee, served by extremely pleasant staff.... Would recommend a visit if you are in the area..... Oh and they have some extremely large poodles as well ðŸ¤ðŸ¤ðŸ¤
Looks a great shop and cafe, lots of car parking. I stopped to buy a drink and look at the animals. Very friendly staff!
We visited her a number of times for breakfast whilst on holiday in the lakes
Perfect experience each time. The breakfasts were made with very high quality produce and good portions. The Full Northern is definitely recommended!
Excellent coffee as well!
The Sunday roasts looked excellent.
The staff were very, very friendly and welcoming.
The cafe is very nicely decorated, with local artwork and a relaxing atmosphere.
The shop sells really nice produce, ranging from food to clothes, cosmetics and artwork.
If you’re looking for somewhere to get good food and drinks, look no further!
Fantastic farm shop and cafe. Very friendly and helpful staff, very welcoming and accommodating with dogs, but also have another area without dogs. Food is absolutely top quality and delicious coffee and cakes too. Going back again today for Sunday lunch 😋
Where do I start, this place is WONDERFUL. The staff are fantastic, we had service from the younger staff on the weekend, what manners, they couldn't do enough. Staff during the week were equally helpful and work so well together. So nice not to see 'headless chickens' running around not knowing what to do. Don't get me started on the food, it was delicious!!! I think we spent our whole trip here LOL. Before I finish, can I just say, that being a coffee aficionado, this is probably the best coffee I've ever had. I bought a few bags of Red Bank coffee so it can take me back to Basecamp when I'm enjoying my cuppa. We'll be back for the Alpaca tour, it was fully booked, but it gives us an excuse to return for the full English. Thank you so much.
Found this place when searching for somewhere to have breakfast. Really enjoyed the food. We had bacon and egg and bacon and mushroom cobs. A very healthy pot of tea for two as well. We were served quickly and the food was freshly prepared. Staff were very friendly. Lovely view from the windows and there were walks around the property if required. Had to buy a slice of lemon meringue pie to takeaway, it was fab. Would recommend.
Best Sunday Lunch in Cumbria. Excellent food. Family friendly, great location
Outstanding breakfast and gorgeous coffee.
The Full Northern sets you up perfectly for a day in the Lakes, and every element of it was superb. I even ate the egg white and the tomatoes, which I never do! Perfectly cooked thick bacon, a juicy Cumberland sausage ring and the best black pudding I've ever tasted. Their home made accompaniments were also excellent, the brown sauce and ketchup were refreshing and a nice change from the usual vinegary offerings you get in other cafes. Throw in the best coffee I've ever had too, rich and full-bodied, served by a friendly team of staff and then to see alpacas on site just completed a lovely morning and it results in this 5 star review.
