One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Compliments to the chef for producing a first class meal well presented hot and very tasty and also to the lovely staff definitely a visit if you are in the area

We had a really nice meal, I had the chicken black swan which was amazing and the hubby had the lamb shank which according to him was fantastic x
A big thank you for looking after us so well from the weaving ladies. The food, accomodation and staff were excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves even when we thought we were going to be snowed in. We're all safely home now and already planning our return trip.

We called on our way to Center Parcs following a recommendation from family. Beautiful pub, lovely location & delicious food. Jackie is a great host, very friendly & welcoming. Would definitely come back & encourage anyone in the area to try it out.

Jackie, Steve and family were so welcoming. Every day it was like coming 'home'. Rooms have a bed and a bathroom, coffee/tea making facilities and a TV. The pub was the ideal base for us to explore the North and the Lakes for a few days. Food at the Black Swan was of a really high standard, superb. We will definitely return. Very good value for money.
Black great is a great local pub. The service is outstanding, super friendly, and really everyone has a massive smile and wants you to relax and enjoy yourself. Loved sitting down and having a drink whikst we waited to he seated in the dining room, really relaxing and comfortable. The food is also brilliant big portions, and lovley accompaniments with chips, tempura brocholi, veg and duphinoise potatoes that are amazing. If you are a local in cumbria, pay it a visit you won't regret it.
Friendly, welcoming small hotel. Convenient stopping-off point near the M6 if driving from London to Scotland. Husband and wife owners who prepare the food on the premises and serve it themselves. Great food and plenty of it. Lots of nice touches around the food and rooms (like getting tap water without asking for it). Beer's good too!
Booked on the spur of the moment on Friday morning as we wanted a weekend to chill out. The reason why I chose the black Swan was due to the positive reviews, and it certainly did not let us down. It was very relaxing and the food was first class compliments to all the staff .
Fantastic people, food superb, room comfy, bright with everything you need. Beer prices good. Evening meal was out of this world.

Lovely pub accommodation with delicious inclusive breakfast. Our host Jackie was very helpful and went out of her way to accommodate any requests we had. The room, dining area and pub were all immaculately kept. I would definitely stay again.
So staff is just like family level great and very friendly. Got a few good advices about fishing on eden and caught a chub. Pub and dinner at the place also great
Fantastic family run restaurant and hotel. Jackie and Steve excellent hosts. Great atmosphere, amazing food prepared and cooked by Steve. Room very comfortable, having chairs to sit and relax in, comfy bed and spotlessly clean. Quiet location, minimal traffic noise.
Great place to stay with Great hosts Jackie & Steve. A warm welcome when we arrived and taken up to our room. Great views from the bedroom. The meals a Great and filling. If you like big portions then Steve is your Chef. I would Highly recommend this place.

We had a room for two nights, the room was small but really well designed. Everything we needed was there and well fitted with no wasted space. The staff were attentive and coped brilliantly with our various requests, nothing was too much trouble. Our only comment would be for smaller portions at dinner! We would stay again.
Very cosy inn staff very friendly, good choice of home cooked food and plenty of it, the eggs Benedict for breakfast are the best i have had
We stayed here on an impulse so hadn't planned or researched the place at all. We booked and turned up within an hour. We were very pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and comfortable. The food was superbly presented and delicious. The owners and staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. I recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, good food and a warm welcome.

Lovely room, great service. The food was the star of the show though during our short stay. Had the duck which, as many have described on here, felt like something that should be in the Michelin Guide. Very generous portions too.
Owner/host was lovely and made us feel welcome. Will come back on our next trip to Cumbria.
Lovely little pub, only had breakfast here but was well done and served with a smile! Super friendly host, helpful in times of need! Bathroom didn't have a shower but that didn't bother us - would still recommend
WOW. First visit, but greeted like old friends by the owners. The Inn was just so lovely and cosy and warm and well lit. The rooms were warm and clean with good facilities and comfy beds. FOOD WAS TOP NOTCH. We met friends, had a great meal and all stayed the night. After a superb Breakfast we had a lovely walk by the river!
