Update 17/06/2023: Visited again this evening for a meal and really enjoyed the chicken schnitzel, the service from waiting staff was excellent and they were very friendly. There was a bit of a wait on food and especially so for the post-meal coffees, but otherwise was great all-round! Lovely beer garden and a nice, chilled out vibe - beats the usual rowdiness we tend to find at pubs this time of year and was nice to be able to enjoy each other's company. 😃 --- Stunning, picturesque pub set within a tranquil countryside, a real nice spot for drinks. I seem to recall having food here many years ago which was excellent too, but have visited a few times most recently for drinks and always had an excellent pint (Wye Valley all the way!).

From start to finish, I enjoyed everything. The beer garden is beautiful and big with a pleasant outlook over fields. The pub itself is spotless, great bar area and the restaurant area is separate if you want a more country Inn experience. Now, onto the food. Every course was tasty and plentiful. No baby portions here. Just proper food cooked well and presented beautifully. Anyone visiting here must have an epic cheesecake pot......you won't move for an hour afterwards but it's worth it! I also feel it is priced just right as you definitely get what you pay for.

Visited unannounced and without reservations on a busy evening, staff were able to fit us in at short notice and we enjoyed a fine evening meal. Many thanks to the Manager who when asked to order a taxi, ran us back to the canal in his own car!!

Another absolutely gorgeous Sunday lunch, my only disappointment being I don’t visit on a Sunday often enough! Their roast is an absolute must! Amazing service, amazing sides, amazing Yorkshire’s, and amazing stuffing! What more do you need? Feel blessed to have such an excellent establishment on the doorstep!

We visited the Chequers at Crowle for a meal out with my parents after they’d returned from a weekend away for both of their birthdays. We needed somewhere dog friendly and here was very accepting. We booked a table and we’re seated in the bar area where bowls of water were available. The building itself was lovely, plenty of parking available and the gardens look like they’ll be a wonderful place to sit in the summer months. My favourite feature was the open fire. We were seated and we weren’t entirely sure whether service was at the table or at the bar. We waited and looked over the menu before someone took our order for drinks and then again separately for food. I ordered the Bavette Steak medium rare. It was cooked as ordered and the whole meal was beautiful. The peppercorn sauce was the best I’ve had anywhere. It was almost like a gravy. For dessert, I had the chocolate chip cookie cheesecake pot. This felt never ending but in a great way! It was creamy, not too sweet but plenty of it. What knocked it a star was the service. It was a bit slow and somewhat lacking. Maybe they’d had a busy afternoon, perhaps it was busy in the restaurant and we couldn’t see from where we were. We don’t eat out a huge deal so if we visit again, I’ll be happy to edit my review :) Overall, fantastic food!

Onion rings batter was a revelation rosemary and sea salt (1 minute too long in fryer for my teeth but still quality) skin on fries hot and tasty, bar staff friendly and all busy doing tasks even though a quiet evening showing dedication to role, atmosphere warm and inviting, beer garden quality chairs and views, wish it was nearer to home
