My husband and I had an early dinner at hot rocks today and I cannot rate this place enough. It was freezing when we stumbled in there. We did not have a reservation but given that it was around 6, they accommodated us without any issue. We had the seafood platter and upon request, they cooked our lobster and shrimps with garlic butter. To our utmost - very pleasant - surprise, they also baked our Cromer crabs. I am an avid seafood platter fan and have consumed hundreds of those over the years. This is the BEST seafood platter I’ve ever had. Everything was fresh and tasted of the sea.John catches the crabs himself and you can tell just how fresh the food was. John and his lovely wife run an AMAZING restaurant with a very personal touch. We are visiting from London but we have already made plans to come up here again in the summer. We simply cannot wait. Thank you so much for the great food and hospitality. Ricky and Diana

My husband and I visited Hot Rocks this evening with our parents and children. It was my father in laws birthday and they really made it special they provided a balloon for the table and let us take a birthday cake which they surprised him with after the meal. The food itself was lovely two of us had fillet steak which was on the hot stone with a wide selection of sauces and butter. There is also a good selection of sea food and fish and the home made chicken goujons from the Childrens menu went down well as did the lobster. We all throughly enjoyed the meal and the friendly staff who made the birthday boy feel special We will definitely be back !!

Went for lunch having read a good review in the EDP. We both had fillet steak which was delicious. The hot plate self cooking thing was great because you could cook the meat as little or as much as you wanted. Sweet potato fries were yummy! Staff we’re friendly and chatty- couldn’t fault the service. Highly recommend. 100% will be back soon!

Spectacular, delicious & fresh! Both the crab & lobster are caught by co-owner fresh each morning. Other seafood on the menu is from local suppliers. The sharing platter for two is a comprehensive, delectable feast as is the salad with dressed Cromer crab. Both dishes are highly recommended. Everything is incredibly reasonably priced. It’s no wonder it’s a popular place with locals & visitors alike!

Great experience, enjoyed the food, and we were looked after. I had a squid, and my other half had the mushrooms, both were great, and we then had the sharing platter. It didn't disappoint!

Amazing seafood restaurant. If you want fresh seafood, you need to come here. It's caught fresh by the fisherman who owns the restaurant. You can also order steak and cook it yourself how you like it on the hot rocks. It looked and smelt amazing when someone else ordered it. We ordered the seafood platter and it was gorgeous. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and I would come again next time I'm in Cromer.

Came out to Cromer on a day trip with my wife. Came in for fish and chips as we noticed they do gluten free here. Service was brilliant, staff were friendly and efficient and the food was beautiful. Enjoyed our visit and would recommend this little restaurant to anyone. Thank you for making our visit to Cromer a very enjoyable one🙂. Mr and Mrs Walker.

We had baked crab, fresh but a few bits of shell mixed in mine, none in my partner's. First beer lovely, second was flat. Closes too early, lots of potential customers turned away.

This was a last minute booking but we were lucky to get seats on a Saturday lunchtime. This is definitely a cafe, and simple in its decor but we were there for the food, and the food did not disappoint! While in Cromer we opted for the crab, in fact the whole seafood platter rather than the actual hot rocks and steak. For us though, this was a plentiful portion for two, it was fresh and tasty. A simple cafe with delightful food.

Went here because of reviews and that they served Cromer Crab. Service was perfect and food was delicious and decent sized servings. I found prices very reasonable. Many locally sourced fresh items on their menu and my wife a vegetarian had a great meal.

Really lovely place and staff. Of course, had to have crab 🦀 which was lovely. Really decent portions but would have preferred some more flavour on the salad and chips. The crab was lovely tho!

Came here as the "crab pot cafe" was closed with no notice and we wanted crab today. Had the crab salad. Food was perfectly fine. Crab was decent as expected. Little short measure on the coke drink but apart from that all good. Service speed was about 15minutes from ordering at lunch which was OK. Overall it was decent enough .

Daughter booked a table for 6, lunchtime on a busy sunny August Thursday, at very short notice without any issues but we were lucky as when arriving at location and seated, It was obvious that a lot of people wanted to eat here, people walking in and trying to get a table + you could hear staff constantly answering phone and had to apologise as fully booked. Greeting was nice and friendly, explained to us what was available and took order for drinks. Menu was good, plenty of sea food available and of course, Cromer crab. The food order was smooth and exactly what we would be getting, the hot rock steaks are a speciality and our 10 year old grandson enjoyed cooking his own children's steak on hot rock with garlic butter. My granddaughter had chicken selection from children's menu. My mixed grill was emmense and must admit beat me. My daughter and son in law shared a seafood platter and again a lot but they said it was exceptional. My wife had Cromer crab salad and said it was one of the best she's had. Overall, excellent food and service, well worth the very reasonable price for 6 people Including drinks.

The restaurant is basic looking but the food is high quality fresh produce. We ordered the “hot rocks” which is a hot plate of rocks to cook your own food - we had scallops, king prawns, sea bass with dipping sauces and garlic butter and also the hot Mediterranean “salad” which is roasted veg like courgettes, carrots, mushrooms and peppers with some wine. The fish is super fresh and so tender. All was delicious especially the sea bass with the veg. Bravo. Highly recommend… also recommend a reservation. The restaurant is very small so 30 seats approx. Afterwards go to the pier with some bacon and fish for crabs. Nets and lines sold on the pier.
