We loved the new and improved Barista! The whole family are already fans but the space and layout now makes it easier to go along with family and friends for coffee or lunch! Well done Ellen and team

I wanted to update my original review (from 2014). Facebook doesn't seem to allow me to post a new one. I am literally a daily visitor to The Barista (I’ve yet to be barred)! Ellen, Sue and the other girls always make me feel extremely welcome. I’m proud to say I was their first ever paying customer when they opened in 2014! So I’m also really pleased to see them expanding into new larger premises, a great sign of success. Location: The current coffee shop has been a wonderful intimate venue over the last 3 years, but it’s obvious to see that Ellen and the team have outgrown the premises. I’ve got a biased connection with the décor as they proudly display a couple of my landscape photography images on the wall. I’m thrilled to have been asked to provide more prints for the new venue. It’s got a very personal feel to it, which is a combination of the intimate space and the amazing personal service they provide. One example of this personal service is that I take my 2 year-old son (Harrison) in for a milkshake once or twice a week and (provided they’ve not got a queue streaming out the door) she’ll take time to help him make his own! He loves it! Coffee: Have you ever been at a coffee shop and had to ask the barista exactly what a Flat White is? Well, you’re not alone. In fact, Flat Whites tend to confuse a lot of people! For instance, some coffee shops serve a Flat White as a small Latte, whereas a traditionalist like myself views them as a completely different drink. Personally, I love the fact that a flat white enables the barista to enhance the flavour of the coffee bean itself, while making a delicious milky coffee at the same time. I often find latte’s “too milky’ (which may sound a bit obvious). Anyway, the flat white at The Barista is literally the best coffee I’ve enjoyed. I’m lucky enough to travel all around the world with my job and I’ve yet to find a Flat White of equal quality and taste. Occasionally when I fancy a quick ‘shot’ I go for a double espresso and that also gives me a nice energy boost and a kick to my taste buds. Food: I’ve got a secret hot tip! Whatever you’re choosing from the menu, ask for a small side of their signature chilli jam! It’s simply delightful. My go-to favourite is a ham and cheese toastie, which I dip in the jam. I’m also a massive fan of their breakfast paninis, which are also massive! If you have one for breakfast, I challenge you to eat a proper lunch as they’re so tasty and filling! Always freshly prepared and I’ve not had a bad meal yet in 3 years of being a regular. Overall: I’m happy to see healthy competition in the town, it’s great for consumers to have choice. But The Barista continues to be my home from home, my remote office and my essential location for my daily Flat White.

Loving the new look Barista. I was in earlier today and the staff are grinning like Cheshire Cats, obviously liking their new surroundings. And the coffee was great as always ladies.

The perfect venue for an after school treat for my daughter (and me) while we wait for her brother to finish his after school club. Friendly staff and a good selection at sensible prices. 👍🏻

Gotta love this friendly cafe, I was talking to people in the queue about it being my birthday, Ellen must have heard and served my drink in a lovely big Happy Birthday mug, I am sure she also gave me the largest piece of cake! Very supportive of Cricklade people, of all ages.

Situated near the bottom end of Cricklade's rather quaint high street is this unassuming cafe. It looks inoccuous enough from the outside. You order and pay, then wait. I visited in passing, on a weekday, outside of the school holiday period. The high street was quiet to say the least. I sat outside. When my tea and food arrived, I was very pleasantly surprized! You'd be amazed at what turns up when you order a simple filled jacket potato! It comes in a good sized bowl, because it needs to! Yes, you have your spud, containing its filling, and generous both are, too. Then it is surrounded by a finely prepared salad, drizzled in a savoury sauce! It's hardly a snack! The staff are very friendly, the food is unbelievable and the prices are more than reasonable! Oh, and there's plenty of free parking around, too!

Great little place first time going with the new owners and was really welcoming with smiling faces , we only had drinks as it was a stop-of along our walk. Kids really enjoyed their milkshakes which went down a treat. If I had to recommend I would say an offering dairy free / Vegan cakes

I was just there doing some Pat testing so can't speak personally about the food but my wife visits frequently and is always telling me how she enjoys it especially the coffee and jacket potatoes. I can say that it has a lovely atmosphere, is very clean with a constant stream of obviously regular customers judging by the banter.

I popped in today and only purchased two gluten free brownies. Being gluten intolerant for sometime now, it can be real struggle to find anything to eat at times and finding anything that tastes normal is somewhat impossible. Not in this case. These gluten free brownies are by no means normal, even the brownies I've had before becoming gluten intolerant never tasted this good. The best brownies I've ever had and I will be happy to travel back here again for more.

Had an amazing breakfast at a a busy time. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Quality of food was excellent. Cups of tea were superb and a proper brew unlike most baristas that palm you off you with second rate teas.

Nice little traditional cafe. I love the sausage sandwiches and the coffee is very good. Staff are friendly too. I prefer the front seating area, the rear of the place is dreary and could do with additional, but not necessarily overt lighting. They sell a good vegan cake or two also. Can't be bad!
