Reviews Tally Ho Inn

A visit to south Shropshire has been on the cards since @tallyho.bouldon re-opened its doors and if the standard of food at its sister pub @pheasantatneenton is anything to go by we were in for a treat. ⭐️5/5 Recommended👍🏻 Price 💸💸 The Tallyho is what we would call a proper country pub. Recently renovated, showcasing the inns’ rural character with quirky trinkets to catch your eye, a roaring log fire, and eating by candlelight. The perfect refuge on a drizzly autumnal day 🍁 The menu offers simple, locally sourced pub food, but don’t let that fool you as this isn't your average pub grub. To kick things off, crispy fried chicken thighs smothered in Korean chilli sauce gave off pad Thai vibes with carrot pickle and crushed peanuts. A change from the expected but definitely a pleasant one, crunchy, sticky, sweet with a hint of spice, delicious. Grilled Cornish sardines served on toasted sourdough with sweet cherry tomatoes. Fresh, clean flavours and a beautifully presented dish. The main event of duck breast with crispy skin and a scattering of crispy bits for added crunch. Well seasoned and expertly paired with spiced carrot purée, creamed cabbage, and dauphinoise. The rich jus and pesto oil rounded everything off beautifully. Highly recommend this dish. Seared lamb rump was tender and plentiful served with fondant potato and a jug of creamy bacon and garlic sauce. The kale pesto isn’t something we have tried before but loved how well this worked with the lamb. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Great service led by Ellie, a warm and friendly atmosphere and exceptional food. It’s not somewhere you would necessarily drive past, but it's definitely worth going the extra mile! The Tally Ho is another great celebration of locally sourced British food in Shropshire. The quintessential country inn and we can’t wait to return. #theshropshirefoodies

Once again, excellant experience. Food good quality without being pretentious, a warm welcome from barman, and serving staff very good because they are older and experienced. Big plus.

Lovely Sunday Lunch, we are frequent visitors to the sister pub the Pheasan at Neenton so were expecting good things and we were not disappointed. Brilliant as always!

What an absolute joy! Sunday lunch can be so very disappointing but not here - rare roast beef, crispy roast potatoes, glorious Yorkshire pudding and my fave bit - the food is served on a sharing board, veg served separately - put what you want on ur plate We shared a lemon and blackcurrant mess and it was delicious - lovely and sharp with properly good gooey meringue pieces. Great wine list too. Loved it and so thankful it’s only 25 mins away. Thank you team TallyHo - may you prosper and thrive!

A very welcoming, dog friendly pub. The food was very good for the price, with superb portion sizes. It was a pleasant drive out from the main road, well worth it for the views from the beer garden. A lovely little pub!

Finally made the effort to go for Sunday Lunch as so pleased we did! This is not a place you could find by accident, tucked away in a lovely hamlet quite off the beaten track. You won't be disappointed. Superb food indeed. Great portions, everything fresh and homemade, proper Sunday lunch. Good selection of meats, vegetarian on request. Family service of veg and there was plenty of it. We even treated ourselves to dessert and again all fresh and homemade. Great attentive service, very friendly team with all having a great sense of humour too!
