We had home made beef steak and Ale pie with chips and peas. The pie was excellent. The meat was very tender and the puff pastry crisps and light and the chips were very crispy too. Very nice indeed.
The service was very good.
The pub itself looks a little tired and could maybe benefit from a bit of a refurbishment. We thought the pub lacked atmosphere but it was only a Tuesday evening. It may be different on a Friday or the weekend.
Excellent food coupled with a superb selection of real ales and a quite impressive wine selection. We really enjoyed our meals and found the Nook with a fire a very comfortable spot for after dinner. The food was reasonably priced and was brought promptly and cooked to perfection. Can't rate high enough.
Pleasantly surprised at this gem. Passed it on the road many times and always wanted to pop in. If this sounds like you, then definitely stop off for food. We had the lamb casserole and pie of the day. Nothing to moan about and we both enjoyed our meals
Saturday 10th August I had my wedding reception at the royal William and I can't express enough of what a fantastic job you done. Everything went to plan and ran smoothly. You are an amazing team. The children had plenty of space to run around and enjoy themselves. Food was amazing and the staff was always on hand to help. Everyone commented on what a lovely place it was and how the staff was very friendly. Thank you Mr and Mrs Ilott.
Last week we had my Dad's wake in the Cranham suite. It is a lovely venue I highly recommend it. Also the food was excellent. A reasonable price as well, it made my family happy as we could of been after loosing my fabulous Dad. Thank you to all the Royal William team.
Two of us went for lunch. I had not been here for about 20 years & found it had not lost it's charm & wonderful welcome followed by tasty food. Well done.
What a fantastic night. Food was amazing. We had the hot stone rump steak. Definitely a return to next time we are in the area
I really love this place and hope it stays open as a pub (with or without the food). Fingers crossed we see the doors open again soon.
Friendly pub situated in the main Stroud-Cheltenham road, in a wooded area. It's got a large car park and bar area. There are a couple of outdoor areas, for when the sun is shining.
Absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, the service was fabulous - despite being fairly busy, Alex (who seemed to do it all except the cooking!) was funny and charming and very welcoming - and the beer was excellent. We will certainly be returning.
Great pub; atmosphere and vibe. The food is very good. Good selection of draughs. Easy access to walk up to the top of the beacon from the pub.
