Rolled up drenched by hailstones, cycling; owner brilliant, took our outfits, dried them for next day. Room fine, clean, proper plumbed in shower, not weedy electric, warm, comfy bed. Down for good craft ale, wine and excellent pie (not beef stew with lid, proper fully pastry home made.) Wife fussy about veg standard, very happy. Next day owner served large breakfast with vine tomatoes and more than we could finish. Even cat is good natured, this is a rare gem of a well run inn with atmosphere. Will return.
We stayed last night. It is a small in attached to an excellent pub. The food in the restaurant was outstanding! We all enjoyed our meal. The rooms were very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would absolutely stay here again.
We had to wait to catch the eye of the barmaid for a while in order to be served and didn't have the beer they normally stock. I've found service to be a bit on the slow side generally. Also, a bit pricey but great location and nice atmosphere.
My father in law booked us in here while we attended a family funeral. Firstly, the staff were faultless. Super friendly, inviting and always happy for a chat. Especially the owner, who engaged with us for almost a whole evening. The food was divine, great value for money, and the rooms were cosy and clean. The room was stocked with a kettle with drinks and treats too, but I was most impressed with the mini fridge for our milk (which we later used to store our "going home" sandwiches). Would definitely recommend to anyone and would definitely stay again if in the area!
We enjoyed our stay so much. We were made to feel part of the family and enjoyed our room Rosendale in particular. We recommend having dinner as its wonderful menu. The breakfast is a classic hearty one with great produce. Thank you!
Thank you so much for the amazing Sunday lunch for 22 yesterday, for my daughters baby shower. The food quality and quantity was the best 👌 service and friendly staff brilliant 👏 Everyone commented on how good it was. Will we be back? Oh yes, that's a definite 👍
Went in for an evening meal. We were served by friendly and enthusiastic staff. The food was delicious. It was freshly cooked, hot and very tasty. The desserts were homemade and delicious as well. I would highly recommend if you are in the area.
The best pub around, our favourite place (dog included). Friendly warm and welcoming no matter even if your straight from work or with horses. Big Yorkshire portions and so reasonable. We have brought friends and family and always had a top time! Honestly the best pub around, I'd never go anywhere else now.
Such a beautiful country pub 🤩 you walking down the history lane while having a pint. Very friendly and welcoming staff x
Lovely place, staff are awesome... Good choice of drinks, food was great too. One of those places on your doorstep...coxwold... That us townies need to visit more.
Had a lunch here which was outstanding. Service good, atmosphere great. Highly recommend.
We stayed at the Fauconberg over the August bank holiday. The stay was excellent. The pub is set in a nice, quiet area. The rooms were very homely and cosy - and provided everything we needed for our stay. The food was excellent (the steak pie, Sunday roast, fish & chips and morning full English were fantastic). And to top it all off, the service from every member of staff was 10/10. Everyone was friendly and accommodating.
Lovely meal- 5 of us eating a selection of starters, mains and puds and everyone happy! Venison perfectly cooked with a delicious cherry sauce, hake with mussel broth, fish pie, pork chop and steak pie all great. Decent wine list and the staff were all charming and attentive. Will be back.

I am lucky to have family near by and I have been meaning to visits the idyllic pub for years! My parents used to visit back in the 80s, and always spoke well of it as a place to eat. While in the area for a wedding and having a free afternoon, I decided it was time to visit, and I'm very glad I did. The food was lovely, and if you love the oldie world feeling of a Yorkshire Pub, this hits the spot nicely! 100% recommend visiting if you can, but be sure to book. I will certainly pop back when I'm in the area.
Good food lovely atmosphere and they have Timothy Taylor beer.We had the four poster bed room very comfortably, the shower control was interesting. The staff are excellent too.
Lovely country pub, lovely staff, lovely food......says it all really. However, four of us stopped for lunch and were not disappointed, the Ham, eggs and chips was a simple winning classic, beef sandwiches came with a few chips and a small salad (excellent value) and the Crab and Prawn Linguine was delicious, all served very quickly. We will be going back.
Beautiful dinner followed by pudding, very nice.will be back when in the area.
Had a WONDERFUL stay in the lovely private and cosy garden room a week ago. Enjoyed a meal up at the pub, which was excellent as always and enjoyed the rest of the evening in the garden room with the log burner on! Would recommend to all!
