First time in years we’ve been here! Wow! What have we been missing? 5 stars in every way!
Where to start?…
•Walking in we were greeted by a very friendly young lady, who was attentive, friendly, courteous and just so good at her job!
•The decor was beautiful and the Christmas decorations were perfect 🤩
•A cosy wood burning stove added to the ambiance 🔥
•The food was absolutely perfect, there were 5 of us ordering from the extensive Christmas menu, belly pork, Katsu curry, fish and chips, plus starters and desserts! All tasty and cooked perfectly! •We were able to order extra drinks from our table without being made to feel it was too much trouble for the bar lady!
•We had one adult and 2 young children tag along with us, just for a drink and a bag of crisp! They were all happily accommodated, even though they were not booked in!
We will definitely be back, many times in the future!

Bloody amazing, both service and food!
Portion sizes are huge and well worth the money!! Great quality food would go back just for the cheesecake! Well needed after a long day of walking in the peak district.
Considering there is only two of them working there mon-sat they are doing a brilliant job! Call in advance to book!

Placeholder review - the owners of Arthur’s, a fantastic little restaurant in Belper have recently taken over the pub. Its only fair reviews are considered above this line, rather than those below. Heading next week so will add a review then!
The food is fantastic. I had fish and chips and I was not only delicious but it was presented very well. I must say through that the chairs are very uncomfortable. Your always seating on the edge of them (they may not be all the same) this is why it's not 5 star. I do highly recommend the Fox and Hounds.
Absolutely brilliant Christmas meal. Rachel definitely needs a Christmas bonus.. she couldn't do enough for us...sooo welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return and would highly recommend this venue. 😁

Nice pub, with welcoming staff. Really enjoyed our roast belly pork. Very tasty and no fancy frills. Just a proper good roast dinner. Really appreciated the staff member ringing us back to sort us out a table after we were told it was fully booked. Would be nicer without all the odd decor so we could see the lovely old pub beneath but I guess it gives it personality. Thanks for a good meal, will be back.

Homemade TASTY food, big portions, kind staff. Definitely will visit again!
Enjoyed a splendid home-cooked chicken meal at this great pub to celebrate my birthday. All the ingredients were fresh and deliciously prepared. We just HAD to compliment the lady chef and the waitress for a memorable occasion. Will certainly be back to sample more of the varied menu.
We always have a lovely meal here. Tracy treats us like friends which is nice and we have never been disappointed in our meal. Also the pub has a lively vibe so it is very comfortable .
went for a family meal (9 of us) sunday lunch ,food and service was superb ,As we find it quite hard to "all" get together very often this was perfect and although we all live the other side of Derby and further afield we will certainly return again in the near future,Highly recommend.
The staff were very helpful , friendly and polite. Well getting to the most important thing, the food was really well cooked and very tasty just like your grandma's cooking. Really good sized portions. We will definitely be going again and recommending it to others.

The staff were tremendous extremely accommodating. One of our group uses a wheelchair & the place was perfect for us all. The pork dish impressed greatly, they have a good range of gins and ales. Vegetables were well cooked.
Lovely location, super quiet romantic setting with our own corner table, wonderful food, plus our favourite wine. Will be going again soon. Highly recommended.

We were looked after really well. The food was top quality and the service was really quick. The staff are friendly and helpful and can't be faulted. A visit is well worth it. You'll not be disappointed.
