Amazing food!! Especially the mushrooms. Best I've ever had! Staff are lovely, service is great and the premises are well maintained and very cosy and inviting. Food is very reasonably priced. Highly recommend going here.

My family & I visited the Royal Oak this Sunday to celebrate my wife's birthday.
We all had the Sunday roast & couldn't have wished for a better meal. The food was excellent, delicious & fantastic value for money. Just the same as good home cooking!
The pub atmosphere was great & the service couldn't have been better.

Had yet another fantastic Sunday roast today. Lovely staff and gorgeous proper home cooked food. Good atmosphere and ambience. You wont get a better overall experience anywhere else.

Thought we would visit this pub after hearing great reviews, and what a great pub it is! All decorated lovely throughout and was very clean. Staff very friendly and attentive. Our meals were 10/10. We couldn’t fault it, all freshly cooked and cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to return.

Fantastic food. Cajun chicken pasta was absolutely delicious. Steak was superb. Service on point. Very welcoming and nice decor. I could not fault anything. Apple compost crumble was also delicious. Well done the royal oak.

Have often wondered about the Royal Oak as I have driven past and today four of us gave it a try for Sunday lunch. The very attractive, if slightly tired building, is located on a very busy road and I'm guessing could be easily passed by.
Anyway once inside it is an oasis. The interior (especially the dining area) is absolutely delightful and much better than I had ever expected. Service was very friendly and efficient and its good to see a landlord (owner?) who is so at ease with his customers.
The food was absolutely delicious and obviously freshly prepared and cooked: however the prices are on a par with the boil in a bag/ microwaved food served in many chain pubs. Our starters were delicious and the main courses were perfect (2 Pork, 1 Beef and 1 Lamb). The vegetables were beautifully cooked and the portions were generous but not ridiculous. My wife said it was the best Sunday roast dinner she had ever eaten in a pub/ restaurant!
Give it a try - it is much nicer inside than you would ever imagine from the outside.

Just visited for the first time in about 12 years to give Sunday lunch a go. I have to say it was not a disappointment. Excellent value and good food served by really friendly staff. As a previous review said, the lamb shank did fall away from the bone perfectly. The mixed roast was also good, with the beef still pink. Will definitely be back.
