A nice and laid back atmosphere, Pembroke is perfect for a Sunday pub lunch. As it's right on Coulsdon high street it does get quite busy during weekends.
I recently went there to catch up with a friend and decided to try out their selection of burgers. Our burgers were big, juicy and cooked well. They also serve the burgers with chips, mayo and burger relish, which tastes amazing.

Wanted a simple quick easy snack and beer. The Pembroke seemed a reasonable choice. The reviews were quite old and a lot could change in the year to 4 they were submitted. They were not great especially the food.
The pub was as expected, open, spacious and plenty of seating, with stools and booths. It was clean and tidy and plenty of seating to choose from. TVs playing sports and a number of clients dotted around and some outside, front and rear.
At the bar, the staff were friendly, responsive and helpful. A nice range of beers, though nothing exotic or particularly different. Was served properly and in clean glasses. Reasonably priced. We had beers, juices and earl grey tea.
Our food order was a plain burger and fries for our son, bangers n mash for the wife and I had the chilli burger.
Whilst the food came promptly and was tidy and well presented. My burger actually looked like the pictures. There's a 1st! The plates seemed bare. My burger was literally just that. It would be nice to have a more wholesome meal, which would also look better. My wife's mash was dry and just a blob. Not very good. That said, other than those two observations, my burger was perfectly cooked, soft and juicy and full of taste. Really well presented and my wife and son's food was well cooked too. Given the quality of cooking, I can only assume the chefs are limited and controlled as to what they can serve on the plate. A shame as the chef seems to be of a high standard for such a pub.
Our experience was very good and we would definitely consider again for a quick bite and beer.
Went to celebrate my birthday with a big group of friends. Contacted to book the space and had a great communication with the manager for the booking. On the day, we arrived and had the space all prepared for us and the staff Nikki & Emma made everything to all be nice and smooth. Thank you!
Came for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday, was undecided about what to eat...Nikki, highly recommended the katsu curry and I really enjoyed it. Great service! Also love the children's area...plenty of toys and activities which kept my 2 boys entertained 😄
The bar staff make the place very friendly, attentative, and helpful and with a lovely sense of humour. The only pub around and is having a makeover, so I can't wait until it opens again soon
came in for a few drinks - Dan recommended a new cocktail called the Fizz Pop. Absolutely delicious. Reminded me of my favourite cocktail bar in Liverpool. Hope it stays and more to come. He obviously has great knowledge!! will be back again soon!
Been here on multiple occasions. Always great. Food is super cheap, drinks also good.
Atmosphere is fab, whoever does the music there has excellent taste.
This place has become my comfort spot.
Quick and friendly service.
Ordered the food and drink via the app. Great value for money and tasty too.
Had great fish and chips here with my eldest Son, who gobbled his food down. Good cappuccino too.

Just had the cod and chips special, it was absolutely fabulous. Big piece of cod and all the trimmings, great service Emma & Geoff wonderful customer service thanks guys. One happy and full customer👍😊
The food here got great, it had a bit of a lull over the last few years. Their all day breakfast was really great!
A friendly and pleasant pub.
It is clean and tidy with chatty staff.
They serve basic pub food to a good standard. The menu is not too extensive to ensure that what they do they do well.
It feels like a community based pub at the centre of the community.
Visited the pembroke today whilst visiting the area. I went during my lunch. I had a great cheese & bacon burger.
But as it was lunch had no time to try one of their 4 real ales.
Maybe next time I'll do an evening visit.
Only half the bitters were on tab and if you are over 25 then you will feel old in the pub. However, bar staff are very friendly and quick with their service. Only down side was last orders weren't called so suddenly found ourselves with half a pint and no time to drink it.
I come to the pembroke quite often and i’m greeted everytime by the lovely Zhane who gives a great service every single time and keeps you wanting to come back, she aims to please and makes sure that your comfortable and enjoying your time at the site! She honestly goes above and beyond!

Good food, very reasonable prices. Very relaxing environment, games and events. Helpful and polite staff. 2 for 1 cocktails. Would definitely come again and recommend to others :)
Regularly visit to have afterwork drinks, we had a colleague leaving drinks a few weeks back and they reserved us a big area! Nice pub and staff are always good.
Lovely pub, great food, friendly staff. Will definitely return. Great live music, great pool and darts facility and awesome outside area complete with TV
