I highly recommend it
Oldest pub claim, so swung by and yes the core of the building is old but has been sympathetically extended to retain character. The service was warm friendly and quick. Food cooked to order including a catch of the day fish. It arrived piping hot and was good honest trencherman fayre. The pub has a large family friendly garden that leads out to a sea view. Also a large airy conservatory which means dry dining during the British summer. Of the three pubs in the area, I rate this one the best.
4 of us in for Drinks and dinner last night, all the meals we had were great and staff lovely. Had a dog with us and sat in the conservatory which was nice. Dog treats galore from the staff and water offered which was a lovely touch. First time in this pub definitely not the last.
We normally visit the Jolly Sailors but decided to try this pub for a change, we will definitely be visiting here again, the service was superb, fast friendly and very welcoming, my husband had the home made steak and kidney pie he said it was very tasty with plenty of meat inside, I had the 1/2 chicken and ribs combo special, the chicken was cooked to perfection as was the ribs, the food is cooked on ordering but worth the wait, my coffee could have been a little hotter but it was served with a wonderful Biscotti almond biscuit this is a change from the usual Biscoff biscuit that everyone serves these days
Trowel and Hammers is one of these hidden gem pubs that serves top quality food at a great price, i love visiting, always have good banter with the staff and the food is even better. I recommend anyone to go. Breakfast lunch or evening dinners can't wait to go back.
I had breakfast with a friend. The cheese and tomato omelette was lovely. My friend enjoyed her small English. It wasn't that small!
First time used, really worth the visit will be definitely be going back for more.!
Lovely old pub and the staff were friendly . Food was excellent and reasonably priced especially the fish pie
Lovely quiet pub, the food was great and service fantastic. Thank you
Great food at what I call a realistic price.
Baileys and white chocolate cheesecake was superb and a huge size too
Will be coming again
Great pub, friendly staff and good food at a good price. Plenty going on, love the monthly quizz. Dog friendly.
Perfect pub for drink or meal, plenty of outside garden or sit and look along beach and sea, 👍
Excellent food and great staff. Our go to place for breakfast 👍
Absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch. We had roast pork and it came with the best crackling, as well as roast potatoes, roast parsnips, carrots, cauliflower cheese and a homemade yorkshire pudding, with plenty of gravy. We're only visiting but if we were closer we would definitely be regular visitors here. Such a shame it was so quiet, food this good deserves to be fully booked
Friendly service, clean pub throughout, dogs allowed not sure if in restaurant though. Big beer garden at the back overlooking the green and out to sea.Bbq's and music at weekends, excellent way to spend a few hours.
