Since the New owners have taken over, what a remarkable posistive change, lovely bright fresh decor, light, airy and welcoming, exceptional staff, food 110% better than previous owners!!..menu is fantastic, highly recommend all to eat here, and be merry
We booked for Father’s Day yesterday and I’m so glad that we did!! Food was so good, staff lovely and friendly, loved hearing the kitchen staff laughing and chatting to each other, really nice atmosphere, wine was lovely I had the Mediterranean butternut squash and it was to die for!! The pub makeover is modern but still has that lovely pub feel, Can’t wait to visit again.
Me and my husband only stayed for a couple of drinks and had 2 starters around lunchtime. The place itself is very pretty and our starters were very tasty too.
Excellent food and great staff, very attentive. The decor and feel is relaxed and airy. It has an interesting footfall due to its location, cyclists, boaters and passers-by give it a tavern feel rather than a local, but that's not a bad thing. My only gripe was that the electrics were being worked on while we were having lunch and the lights kept going on and off. I thought something was wrong with my eyes for a while. It would have been nice to be told what was going on, or better still, fix the electrics before opening time. Rest room was immaculate.
First visit to the Crown at Cookham over the weekend. Booked a table of 4.
On arriving there was a warm welcome from the staff behind the bar, we were then shown to our table.
Service was great up until the point where we were asked if we wanted deserts, then it seemed to drop off. Which was a shame.
Food was excellent, had the beef and Guinness pie, which was delicious along with some great buttery mash and veg.
This lovely old pub has been recently renovated completely to a very high standard. The new owners have obviously set their sights very high, and so far so good! Food excellent, service very good.
I have been in the Cookham area my whole life and the crown has always been a hub for atmosphere and enjoyment in the local area. However, Recently its been in need of a bit of TLC (and proper management!) so when I heard it had been bought and put under new owners, I immediately booked a table. When I walked in, it felt like the place had a new spring in its step. The staff were friendly, the food was lovely and the place felt back to it’s old self. They’re even dog friendly! Would definitely recommend to a friend and cannot wait to go again!
Came for food but a deep clean in progress. Sat in super comfortable leather wingback chairs and had a great pint. Decor is great, fresh and clean. I've not been in in more than 30 years but will be going back when the kitchen is open to try the food. Only bad thing was the dogs barking and can't criticise three place for that as we brought them in and were still made to feel welcome.
Went out here for my birthday lunch with family...had lovely sandwich and chips.. food was good, but waited over an hour for it to arrive as there had been a problem with till and order got lost, these things happen!! Would not put me off from going again...staff were very apologetic.
It seems to have had a refurb and under new management which is great. The staff are super friendly and the food was very good. There’s a large outdoor space for kids to run around .
Finally under new management. The last were rubbish, staff are chatty and friendly, food looks good but we didn't order so will update the review when we go again.
General atmosphere seems friendlier overhearing staff speaking to customers.
Nice lunch. Mixed starters. Pork belly very tasty and crunchy. White bait huge with heads already removed. Calamari plentiful. Thanks Chef
Beautiful pub , staff are very friendly, food was fabulous, thanks Ben ( chef) you were very accomdating to the request of my meal , absolutely delish. And Ben ( bar) was a great waiter. Will definitely come back .
Surprisingly bright and airy inside. Wonderful fish and chips, and everyone else's food looked great too. Warrants further visits...
The food was amazing, I was sat next to the kitchen and the head chef really made it a show with the meal. He seems very passionate about his job and you can really feel that when you eat the food he serves up
Used to visit regularly and sadly saw massive decline. New management have got it back and its wonderful again! Didn't eat this time but will next!
Amazing atmosphere, great service very attentive and accommodating, food was lovely and filling, a well run pub and we will be returning again. Booking is recommended as was very busy.Thank-you xx
