My wife and I stayed here at the weekend with our two children and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The new owners (Jean and Peter) made us feel very welcome and made our stay a very comfortable one. The room was very clean and well made, with a large bathroom. Good selection of beers and ales to choose from and the food was excellent - I had the Lamb Shank and my wife had the lasagne (I also had the lemon sponge with custard for dessert and the chef certainly wasn't tight with his portion). I would highly recommend and we will be back very soon.
What a cracking meal , love coming to Coniston. But have never visited the shop inn before . Huge genourous portions . I had the steak and black pudding pie , it’s was fab . Highly recommended.
Food was spot on...brisket pie....mmmmm deffo recommend this pub
Great little pub in a beautiful spot. Jean and Tony are so hospitable, plus good beer, delicious food and I will definitely be coming here again
A hidden gem on the outskirts of Coniston, A great selection of local craft beers, my favourite being the Dizzy Blonde.
The manager is one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met in the pub game, and I have been in rather a few.
He took the time to explain the finer points of session ales and has even converted me away from foreign imported beer when we produce beer this good!
There is accommodation and food available along with a very friendly Lakeland welcome!
Highly recommended.

Just returned from a weekend in Coniston. We ended our travels in The Ship Inn both nights, a few well earned pints and fabulous food. Very welcoming friendly helpful staff - definitely recommend
Came in throughout the week for drinks and food during our stay. The food, drink and atmosphere is lovely and the bar staff are very friendly lead by Jean.
I would reccommend the place to anyone staying in the area of with them. Will be coming back!

We called in for a little drink whilst camping at Coniston Hall, lovely warm welcome and fantastic owners and staff, will definitely be back again
Absolutely love this place when we visit coniston, the owners are lovely people who make you feel more than welcome with a great sense of humour and a kind generous nature. The food is fantastic and the drinks go down very well!
Called in at this lovely little, dog-friendly, pub on the outskirts of Coniston for a latish lunch on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. Recently re-furbished to a high standard, the interior is smart and comfortable, and the welcome was friendly and as warm as the open fire. The menu is varied and reasonably priced, we had fish (Cod) chips and peas, a the Pie of the Day which was Chicken and Mushroom. Both arrived quickly, and with a smile. Portion sizes were generous, I don’t think I’ve ever seen more chicken in a pie, and the food was hot and delicious. Two main courses and drinks came to less than £40, which, given the quality, is very reasonable these days. I can see this place becoming a regular stop on our visits to the Lake District.
Lovely food, lovely beer, lovely location, friendly staff.
A well-priced pub for the location with everything you’d want from a traditional pub serving food.
We went twice - the first we had fish & chips and then second time we had the burger. The relish on the burger was lovely!
We also had our kids with us and their meals went down well too. The high chair was amazing too! If you know, then you know. Lots of games.
Would definitely recommend over some of the places in the centre of Coniston.
It’s also dog friendly.
What a little gem ! So clean and welcoming. Fast service beautifully kept Robbi's pint 😋
Deffo recommend and visit again. 💟 baby George 👶.
Excellent well managed pub. Old world charm mixed with an up to date decor. Good food and drinks. Cosy fire if it's cold, and tables outside if it's warm.
Booked a table in advance due to a busy Easter holiday. Child and dog friendly. Highly recommended.
Took a booking last minute for a family of four as we had been on the lake and needed some food. I can imagine you'd need to book usually as it was quite busy and fully booked in the evening.
The place itself is lovely, cosy and inviting. It is set in some beautiful surroundings and the garden is very nice.
The food was good and a reasonable price.
Lovely staff. Very friendly and efficient. No complaints and would recommend.
What a great find! A very welcoming place with lots of atmosphere. Menu is classic pub food and nicely done, service was prompt, good selection of drinks and a well kept pint. Very glad we had booked as every seat was taken. We will definitely return.
Lovely welcoming atmosphere, real log fire and great food. All newly refurbished, the pub looks amazing. A credit to the new owners.
