We were lucky to get in here after a cancellation because it's defo the place to eat if you want something special in Coniston. By the way, did I mention you need to bring your own alcohol? Well you do. Having arrived ahead of time we were shown to our table, cozy in the corner with cool lighting, but told it'd take a few minutes to get the menu. Ok we thought, but then the menus came and after another 5 minutes we were ready to order... but were told we had to wait another couple of minutes. In fairness there was a table of eight and a table of five ahead of us, so maybe that was why. When it did connect, however, we were served a couple of fab starters (see pics) and that started the meal! My wife really loved her chicken dish and for me the sausages n mash were the best! Follow that up with a fabulous Eton Mess and you've got yourself a fabulous meal! Highly recommended - but be sure to book ahead of time!!

We love Steam. First visit since they opened up again after covid. They are not licensed, so you take your own alcohol and are only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Booking is a must. They do alot of vegetarian options and are very good at catering for all intolerances. Two courses for £28.95, three for £32.95 and they charged us £2.50 per person for corkage. Excellent value for money. Food and service is second to none.

Amazing food!!! Chris was welcoming and attentive giving recommendations off the menu but I suspect it was all amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed all our choices-the beef was so succulent. Don’t miss out and make sure you book.

I can keep this review short... The best 3 course meal I have eaten (and I eat out a lot) in the UK for as long as I can remember!!! The decor, ambience and service was first class too.

A Very Special Thank you to the Staff at The Steam Bistro, who were so Very Helpful and Accommodating in helping me out with a Table for 2, Despite my Error, as I'd Booked for the Friday night, and it was Saturday ( errrr) nothing was to much Trouble, we had a small Wait, understandably as it was a Busy weekend ( Bank Holiday weekend) Fantastic Service, Devine Food, A Superb atmosphere, Really can't say Enough about the Experience... I Highly recommend the Steam Bistro, And Making Dinner Reservation...as they're are Extremely popular , they aren't Licensed, but you can bring your own Wine,They are Currently Open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, Table's From 5.30pm- 8.30pm ... Very Stylish 👌 Cooking, with Local Produce from a range of Suppliers in Cumbria, Award winning ( and Thoroughly Deserved) Set in the Heart of the Village of Coniston.... Its a Great place...please Enjoy 😉 Russell...

A wonderful and cosy place. The food and coffee were excellent. The staff are friendly and patient. They helped customise our order. Their patty with homemade ketchup and soup with 2 different kinds of bread were delicious. Highly recommend this place

5 stars are not enough to rate this amazing little family run bistro. We went for one of their pop-up evneing openings andI can honestly say that this was one of the best meals I have ever had. The pop-up menu consists of fixed price 3 courses with 4 choices for each course. The food that I had was simply brilliant. I can not recommend this charming & friendly restaurant any higher.

Top quality food which was very reasonably priced. The bang bang chicken burger was incredible. By far our best meal in the Lakes so far and definitely the best place to eat in Coniston. Gutted we discovered it on our last day of the holiday!! Thank you so much for such a brilliant dining experience
