Reviews The Toad

I was looking for a nice restaurant to take some close family who were visiting from overseas and chose this from looking at the menu and reviews. It was a really good meal enjoyed by all in a well run restaurant . The restaurant is informal but smart with good service. The menu has a good variety of choices all cooked and served with care. They claim to have the best fish and chips in the area - and indeed the fried fish was as good as by I’ve had anywhere. The chips a bit ordinary but still enjoyed and the portion size generous. The dishes we had were pan fried cod and pork belly both cooked to a high standard. The deserts were all served with some flare and imagination. All in in all it was a really good eating out experience which il be happy to repeat when next in the area.

Overall Experience - great place for takeaway 1. Crispy pork with couscous - couscous cooked well with curry, pork is succulent, skin is crispy, highly recommended, portion is a bit small 2. Fish bites - abit blend in the inside 3. Service - very friendly staff 4. Serving time - 20 mins 5. Affordability - £7.50 for most items 6. Atmosphere - sunny and clean

Food absolutely fabulous, well presented and very appetising, being Coeliac menu choice was great (which makes a nice change). Friendly and attentive staff, nice atmosphere, well priced, will definitely go again.

Stopped by for a light bite and a pint of Orchard Cider (after seeing the umbrellas outside). Interior looks great after the post fire redurb. Far more room than the outside might imply. Main menu looked like standard fste so we decided to go for 3 lite bites to share as they looked far more promising. We had battered sausage with a mustard sauce, an excellent chopped battered squid with a katsu curry drizzle and a scotch egg with mackerel instead of sausage meat. All £7ish each, cider was £5, Cruscampo about the same. There is also a popup takeaway about to open below (at street level) which holds further promise of lite bites to go.

Great location, on the corner and seafront. Friendly staff and good service. Worth a visit. Nice to have a drink after a good walk along the promenade.

Lovely lunch and an enjoyable afternoon with friends. Fabulous view from the window table. Responsive and helpful staff, especially when I suddenly felt very cold and a felt/fleece wrap was provided to help keep me warm - thank you!

Great menu and well presented food. Portions are generous and good value for money. Service was prompt and polite. I would advise booking a table (especially for eating at the weekend) and as an added bonus, ask if you can have a table by the window which had lovely views over the bay. If you don’t ask, they might put you round the back!

Lovely pint at lunchtime today in the sunshine. Brilliant young waitress definitely coming back again next week. The Shack food looks amazing. As husband can’t walk far, an idea for the future maybe to have a minibus shuttle service from Rhos to Toad. More people will spend money on drinks and then food. Thank you.

I don't understand the negative reviews we came across before visiting the toad. Admittedly we almost did not book a table. However we are so glad we did. Both food and service was fantastic. Friendly, attentive front of house and really lovely food. Well worth a visit. Thank you.

The food was delicious, and there was a good selection of wines too. We had a wonderful family evening there in October 2021 for a birthday dinner. I truly hope they recover quickly from a recent arson attack.

Really nicely done up since the fire. The food looks good but haven't eaten there yet. The beer was great and there are some lovely tables in the windows to look out over the bay.

Having been closed for a while beyond their control I was looking forward to a visit. I was not disappointed. The refurb looked fantastic, as was the food. Pete and team are back to what they do best and I can’t wait for the next time. Top marks Toad.

They have done an excellent job of refurbishment after the fire. The food was first class and the staff and service deserve a thank you. We had a birthday Sunday lunch and the friendly staff made it memorable.
