What a beautiful hidden gem of a place, amazing food, staff couldn't do enough for us and our room was perfect ....thank you for making our Ben and Katie's wedding one to remember and perfect in every way .... We will be back ....
Cannot recommend this place enough! Went for a work meal out and were treat like royalty. Customer service was excellent as we were well looked after by Joe, food was beautiful as was the atmosphere. Will million percent be back here. Lovely evening
Another fantastic meal, both the food and attention to detail from the wonderful staff is a well deserved five star and an absolute departure from a chain style pub. If you haven't been you're really missing something special.
Cannot praise this lovely pub enough - the location, the food, the beautiful rooms and best of all the fabulous staff - had a lovely evening here with my family and would like to thank Joe and Liv for great service will definitely be back
Went for a late birthday lunch with my husband and Bailey our new Spanish rescue dog.
The food was amazing, the service was superb. A young gentleman called Jack waited on us and made us feel so welcome xxx the young lady behind the bar also looked after us so well x would definitely recommend the Alma to all our friends, family, and associates x
Amazing venue great food friendly and helpful staff 5* could well be the best pub/inn in the world
We had a very warm welcome from Mihai and Joe and the food was worth travelling for- especially the trio of beef. Try the Romanian wine too - excellent.

I loved it. The food was amazing and all the staff were fab. Thank you to all the kitchen staff, manager, bar staff and newbies (you did ace). I'll defo be back!
We had an evening meal here on Sunday evening and the food was excellent. We have now booked The Alma as our wedding venue! A lovely quaint country Inn with stunning views, a friendly team and a good bar!
It is over 40years since we last stepped into the Alma Inn and a lot has changed to be honest I don't remember it from then, but we decided to go out for lunch and as we only live about 10mins away now thought we would try it, we were not disappointed a very warm welcome greeted us we were asked if we were staying for lunch and got our drinks first, the food was lovely very well presented and tasted great trust me it will not be another 40 years before we revisit I think The Alma will be a regular place to dine, oh And did I mention the views what a spot 365 deg. Views of the fabulous countryside both Yorkshire and Lancashire.......fabulous ......
We got married at The Alma Inn in July - The only aspect we never worried about was the venue as we knew the team at The Alma Inn would do a brilliant job and they did not disappoint. The venue and service from the staff were amazing, the food excellent!
Demmie, Joe and all the staff really went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect and what we wanted. I can not thank them all enough.
Lovely food.friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere would highly recommend
Top Notch. Recently visited the Alma Inn for Wedding function and the service was second to none! Our function took over the entire place and everyone was impressed with friendly professional service we received throughout the entire day. Will most definitely be venturing back soon!
Food nice, ( most of the time) staff need to be better, you have at least 1 member of staff watching you eat ( very off putting) drinks far to much.
I have been to the Alma Inn for a couple wedding functions and found it fantastic everytime. I try to go at least once a month with my wife as in addition to the excellent menu they always have different specials to try. I would recommend to anyone,
Excellent!. I have been several times to The Alma Inn now and the food and service have been excellent every time. Definately recommend.
Alma Food. I have eaten here every week for the last 3 months (sometimes twice a week), food is excellent. portions are plenty, atmosphere and surroundings are A1 and very good value. I highly reccomend the Alma Inn to anybody and be sure to check the specials board when you go.
This is my favourite restaurant! I strongly reccomend it and the service and food are superb!! I love the vanilla rice pudding and the sticky toffee pudding and the jam roly poly :) yummy! Absouloutly brilliant!
I eat here very often the food is superb very friendly staff always a pleasure to eat there well recomended
Fantastic food but let down by the service. The service could do with a bit of direction.
Wanted a quiet location away from fireworks displays. We and our nervous greyhound had a great stay. Your staff are wonderful. Food tasteful. And what value! Top marks! We're local so will be back.
Started going here regularly for food which is excellent. You can also sit at the bar if you just want to drink. . It really is a beautiful setting and there are lovely views from outside.
Inside is lovely. I haven’t stayed there but can well imagine the rooms are of a high standard. Friends were married here a couple of years ago and they recommend it.
We had a lovely stay over the weekend. The staff are lovely and the dinner was great. Lots of gluten free options too. Breakfast had a great variety. Lovely walks around the inn as well which was nice. Definitely recommend for a weekend away!
Staff very friendly, attentive and welcoming. Food very tasty, fresh and homecooked. I opted for Fish and Chips and then the Sticky Toffee pudding. We also booked a room on their lunch inclusive special. Bargain! We had Room 9 with the huge jacuzzi bath. Lovely room with amazing views! Well recommended and we'll be back! Only downside were tables a bit sticky and could do with a decent clean.
Really brilliant short break. Dinner was superb and service outstanding. Room was gorgeous, comfortable and everything you need including biscuits and novels. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up for the day's walk. Great slice of luxury after marching round the hills. Will definitely return and highly recommended.
A truly fantastic pub with amazing staff and incredible view. Highly recommend. Although I've not stayed in one of the rooms if the rest of the establishment is anything to go by they will be fantastic
We did not stop in the hotel, but merely visited The Alama for a meal.It ticked all the boxes right from the moment when we walked through the door. The receptionist, (bearing in mind that this is a hotel as well as a pub/restaurant) went out of her way to show us to our pre-booked table. She offered to bring us drinks, but I preferred instead to select from the array of hand pulled real ales and having made my selection, the girl behind the bar insisted on bringing my drinks to the table, instead of me having to hang around whilst she pulled the beer. I was already thinking that this is a business that puts the customer first.
We were joined by our friends, who again had super table service with pre-meal drinks and we all ordered our meals. There was a slight delay before the meals appeared, but more of this later.
My wife and I selected brill. I had never eaten this fish before and it was beautiful cooked and well presented.
We had the usually convivial evening with good food and good wine and we were fortunate to be joined in the bar by the head chef. I had enjoyed the meal so much that I went over to her (yes, the head chef is a woman) to express my appreciation of her culinary skills and she explained that they do not buy in partially pre-cooked or pre-prepared meals which are such a feature of modern day pub catering, but that they cook everything from scratch. This perhaps why there was a slight, but not untoward delay, in us having to wait for our meal.
So, what more can you ask for? Excellent service from all of the staff. A good selection of beers and fine wines and food cooked to your requirements from scratch.
I know what you are thinking. Food and service like this must cost a fortune. But that is not the case. Of course, you can eat cheaper and if you are hungry, MacDonald's will satisfy your needs, but if you want a dining experience and particularly if you enjoy fish, I can make no higher recommendation than visiting The Alma. For myself and my wife, this pub ticked all the boxes, from the quality of the service, to the friendliness of the staff and to the quality of the food.
I live reasonably locally and I shall certainly be returning again. I do hope that when I do so, they continue to live up to the high standard of service that I have enjoyed today.
A beautifully situated traditional Inn close to central towns but with fantastic semi-rural environment and atmosphere. The host was friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome and comfortable. The food was freshly prepared and brought out in a timely manner; at service industry average costs for the venue. It’s important to note a 10% gratuity is automatically included and has to be specifically opted out of, but otherwise the venue meets with expectations. Portion sizes could be more generous in keeping with the traditional themes and certainly the puddings were a disappointment in the presentation and offering, though were of good all round quality. A great eatery, one we will likely return to and even consider using the accommodation within.
I visited the alma with my daughter just as a little get away and honestly I could not have had a better time in a better place if I tried! The staff were amazing, made me feel so welcome and the food was just fantastic! I will definitely be returning!
Stopped off for lunch was very welcoming and dog friendly. Service was excellent and the food spot on. Views from the front are spectacular would definitely be coming back.
Beautiful place, great food, real ale. Staff can't do enough to help. Definitely recommend staying here.
Mya was very friendly and helpful. the food was hot and tasty at a good price. more than happy with our visit
Went for a meal tonight (Saturday 7pm) Friendly attentive service, delicious food and beautiful dining room with a lovely atmosphere. Couldn't fault it.
I stayed here for two nights during my business trip to the UK. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very tasty, but not rich. I had some delay in checking out as the billing address was not changed at check-in as agreed.
Lovely tasty food and a beautiful pub environment. The new assistant manager was lovely.
Lovely last minute stop for Sunday lunch - great food and service and lovely location.
