Visited The Dog & Muffler whilst on Holiday at Forest of Dean Forest Holidays and recommended by them. Went for lunch there and the staff were excellent with there service and very friendly. The food was excellent and very good value for money. Certainly recommend the lovely pub to anyone who wants outstanding service and good homemade food. Thank you to all staff who made our visit very welcoming.

Once in a while you have a surprise and this was one of those occasions.
It’s one of the best Sunday lunch we have had for a very long time.
Looked on Google maps and found the the pub local to us where we were staying.
Callled in without a reservation but still managed to get us in 2 adults and a dog they could not be more welcoming I don’t think we have met anyone more accommodating. Before we ordered food a fresh bowl of water and treats for our dog.
The food was wonderful so fresh and tasty the manager was easy to talk to and so chatty without being over powering or intrusive.
We will be back !

You will probably need a Sat Nav to find this place, slightly off the beaten track. Appeared to be well attended by locals mid week, and the restaurant also seems to be popular
The menu appears to be a bit too extensive, would prefer a shorter menu and more attention paid to each dish
Nice ‘snug bar’ out the back which leads into a light conservatory, garden also appears to be well kept and would be a nice place to sit in the Sun
Matthew was great. He arranged a large table for us and had everything ready for when we arrived. The waiting staff were very attentive and couldn't do enough for you. Food was reasonably priced just unsure of the chips, think it may be that we weren't used to the potatoes they used. Good portion sizes. A little hot in the conservatory but it was during the very hot weather we had and Matthew did his best to keep it cool in there before our arrival. All in all a lovely experience.
A little off the beaten track but worth a visit.
Genuinely I'd give more than 5 stars if I could.
The staff were more than welcoming and went out of their way to accommodate us.
The food was excellent and the feel of the palace was homely. Definitely a place worth stopping at.

After a short drive through some wonderfully scenic countryside, we found this jewel. Lovely place with gorgeous views. The food was spot on and served with a smile. We had two youngsters with us who entertained the other visitors. I am always a little apprehensive taking kids to eat out, but the locals and other restaurant users were delightful and welcomed us. Very well ran and a must go to place if in the area.
The hospitality for lunch was so welcoming. I really haven’t had such caring and focussed service for so long. You can tell they take pride in making people welcome and satisfied. I enjoyed the huge chicken burger :)
This is an exceptionally good pub. Very Good Food with a wide chice menu to chose from. You are spoilt for choice on wines & beers.
Very interesting & atmospheric old world building that is so pleasing on the eye and comfortable.
You will not be disappointed.
Went for a meal last night while staying nearby. Excellent food, huge portions and great staff. Lovely pub and really dog friendly.
Had heard good things so popped in as we passed a sign for it. Great decision. Made very welcome, dog included, fabulous roast and very reasonably priced.
Just had a lovely meal here. Friendly staff and lovely home made food. 100% recommend the bread and butter pudding
