We had a nice meal here. Although the portions were not massive, what we did have was good quality, had great taste and came nice and hot. The staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly. The service was slower than normal, and the manager explained why. This wasn't an issue as our evening wasn't in any rush. Overall all worth the wait and will definitely go again. I recommend a visit. Thank you Rim Jhim

Very warm welcome from the staff for our recent Sunday lunch buffet with friends. Good choice of the traditional starters and then good range of mains to choose from, including vegetarian options, rices, etc. Perhaps could have been a little warmer but that didn't detract from the taste! Be back for takeaway sometime.

What a lovely little place! Having visited several times to both eat in and take away I would never go any where else. The manager and his team uphold high standards of service, customer service, food and atmosphere. They remember their customers and nothing is ever too much trouble. If you are looking for an Indian restaurant whereby you are treated as though you are family this is the place to go! Thank you all! X

I went there with my fiance and our 3 children, 6, 8 and 10. Food was absolutely delicious and the service was Impeccable. All the staff were brilliant with the kids too. Wouldn't go to another indian restaurant over these guys anywhere in colchester. Well done 👏

I ordered a takeaway via the online system from Rhim Jhim, had been past numerous times and would love to eat in the restaurant but with two kids who are incredibly fussy (and likely to only end up eating chips) we chose what we thought would be the cheaper and safer option in terms of the kids! Online ordering was OK, it did give the option of delivery but then wouldn't let me progress so I ended up with the collection option. I popped in ASAP as collection and was half expecting an email that confirmed roughly how long, I got confirmation of the order but no timings so I packed up the kids and headed straight over. Staff were nice and pleasant, gave the kids a chocolate while they waited. We did have to wait a little but I really don't mind if its all being cooked fresh. Whilst I was there I noticed the buffet option with child price starting from 5 yrs, which might have actually ended up a tad cheaper than the takeaway option... although as mentioned earlier this would have probably been a bit of a headache with the kids! On the subject of price, I did think it was a little more on the expensive side compared to other places we have tried in the past. Worth noting that there is no discount for collection, I know some (not all) other places locally do offer this. In terms of food it was pretty good, I had to do a little clean up when I pulled the tubs out of the bag as there was a bit of oil, but to be fair this isn't unlike most Indian takeaways we have had. Also I tipped the lettuce out on to a plate but then had to move it to another plate as there was a bit of water in the tub that I hadn't noticed... but it shows that it was washed! As some other reviewers have pointed out there wasn't loads of oil sitting on the top of the actual food which was nice. We had a biriyani which comes with a vegetable curry, and I have admit I normally ignore this with an Indian, but this one was actually quite good! All in all a good experience, would certainly give it another go if we fancied an Indian - and certainly one of the better Indian takeaways we have had.

We've eaten here many times, the staff are so attentive to your needs. The menu is very varied and the flavours are incredible. We stopped by for the Sunday buffet late one Sunday afternoon, and the range on offer is of exceptional quality. The lamb has amazing flavour, and the dishes were regularly replenished. We cant recommend this establishment more highly. We went back last night (07-March-2022) as an Elvis tribute was in da house. The place was packed, atmosphere amazing, food incredible, performance outstanding. Brilliant night. Thank you team Rim Jhim Spice. Popped in again last night (03-June-2022) and had another smashing meal. Chicken Biryarni and butter chicken. Absolutely fabulous 👌 Back again for Sunday meal. Went off the main menu rather than buffet, never disappointed, flavours are amazing and the staff are very friendly and the dishes can be adjusted to your taste. 23-January-2023, back for an evening neal and the team never disappoint. Lamb Biryarni is fabulous. 06-November-2023, back again but now to our national award winner for best curry house UK 2022. and wow, food is exceptional and service is outstanding. Another fabulous night out. If you haven't been here yet, you're really missing out

Top notch hospitality, great food at affordable price. What more to ask for :) One of our friends recommended this, so visited the restaurant with my family and friends for dinner on a Sunday evening. Opted for buffet and have multiple favourite dishes. Veg samosa, chicken wings, Biryani, Naan and the Lamb curry were the best. Tikka masala and Korma were bit on the sweeter side, not for Indian palate ;) Overall definitely worth the visit and highly recommend. Can't wait to return.. Cheers..

First visit, Sunday Buffet. The restaurant is quite restricted for space, so the layout of the buffet was not ideal. The food was pretty good, but dishes were regularly running out or low without being checked on a regular basis, staff appeared to be busy tending to take away orders. Drink prices were a little on the steep side, solid 4* but not worth 5* based on this visit.

Just had our first take away from here, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the staff and made to feel welcome. The gentleman asked if I had been there before and then recommended some dishes to try next time. I had the chicken Zara which was very very tasty, chicken wasn’t too dry and the sauce was very flavourful. We also had the prawn kurma which again was very tasty. All the rices were cooked well, nice and fresh. We had the meat samosas which were cooked well nice and crispy pasty and very tasty. Unfortunately the onion bhajis were very oily/greasy and didn’t really taste of much. The naan breads were cooked okay not undercooked at all but just wernt as light and fluffy as I’m used to. They were quite bready. All in all I’d say 7/10 I’d be willing to try some more dishes. The stand out for me was the gentleman who greeted at the restaurant, very professional and polite also knowledgeable. Next time I shall dine in to get the full experience.
