A fantastic pub at the bottom of north hill. Great service at all times and they do great food and good offers too. Fantastic bar garden and also show live sport. The pub has a lot of character due to being founded in 1520.
Thank you so much to Liz and the rest of the staff for looking after us so well at my parents' 60th birthday party. Great service, friendly and super accommodating. Everyone raved about how good the venue was!
Lovely quaint pub with different seating areas. Staff were ever so friendly and helpful. Food was a very pleasant surprise. Wasn't expecting much but it was delicious. The mozzarella & Pesto salad was fresh and very tasty. The mix grill was everything you want from a mix grill. They had run out of rump steak so was given a burger... this looked homemade and was really tasteful, and the egg was perfect π. Will definitely go back when in the area again π
Great place for a chill out with a pint, sports and food.
Brilliant service particularly from the young lady. Happy and smiling for all the days I visited.
Top notch.
Fabulous historical pub with great atmosphere and refreshing Cider.
Good pub. Nice menu, good range of beers, pleasant regulars. Not been there for a while, but will certainly pop in more
It is an old theatre, with the stage as part of seating area and the circle full of cardboard lifesize famous people, quite amusing. The food was good and prices reasonable. Would go again.
Nice little pub, nice beer garden, good service with a smile unlike other places π
Good service food and prices whilst showing the Rugby World Cup.
What a great pub. Fantastic and helpful staff. Clean, friendly.
I have lived here in Colchester for 12 years and by far the best atmosphere.
Traveled from Ohio USA to the 12 Pubs of Christmas, what a great charity event
Great food and drink. Surprised it was so quiet, will definitely go back.
Went to watch football in here friendly staff had a new bloke on but he was up to speed very quick
good place with loads of character. not rated food as didnt order any
Pub just down the road for us to enjoy a pint/JD or 2, good food, Sport on tv and lovely old charm and character
Have a lovely visit to watch the rugby the only problem was the TV kept cutting on, apart from that it was a lovely place and would recommend it
Have been for lunch here a few times now. Although the food is good and there is a good selection generally, there is not much by way of vegetarian options. Also the meat free burger has such a silly name it's embarrassing to ask for it (just my personal opinion) even so, the staff are friendly and service is generally quick.
Had the unexpected pleasure to experience the most delicious Singapore noodles created by their very talented chef Gary and, as always, the staff and ambiance were on top form too.
Would highly recommend π
