Lovely experience in Cibus this afternoon, authentic Italian food, was very well priced and delicious, service was very intentive and was not bothered by the waiter every 5 minutes. portions were very filling. Not sure why this place is not busier.
Few bad reviews here that seemed to order take away, do not be put off by these.

Amazing and attentive service inside an atmospheric surrounding with a varied menu of super tasty food. Big selection of starters and big menu of various pastas and grilled meats. Highly recommended.

I booked a table on NYE 2021 for myself and partner.
I can say from start to finish, the service, food & ambiance were first class.
The menu may not be the most expansive but in the current climate, wastage needs to be kept to a minimum if restaurants are to survive.
Restaurants like this one needs our business and I am more than willing to eat here once or twice a month.
Please give this place a visit!
Great service. Great food at a reasonable price. Beautiful building. Complimentary breads and generous sweets with the bill. No idea why this place isn't busier - it deserves to be.

Cibus is a very nice Italian restaurant with friendly customer service and tasty food. It's not the best Italian place in the area, but we still would like them to do well - Colchester needs quality entertainment/hospitality places like this. Some minor issues: Cibus placed 3rd in my ultimate tiramisu test in Colchester which I use to check on new Italian restaurant, I feel tiramisus offered by Favoloso and La Dolce Vita are superior and more flavoursome (they have more coffee, more booze, better quality mascarpone and they look more appealing etc.). I loved the Cibus version of octopus with roasted peppers though, I think their octopus was better than the one I had in La Dolce Vita (I've never had octopus in Favoloso, so I can't compare). My last recommendation is that Cibus offers more wines by glass - only one type of red/wine/prosecco type by glass is not sufficient, but this is an issue with most middle-range restaurants not just in Colchester. The Sun Inn in Dedham and their offering of wines (including by glass) is the template to follow for most restaurants in Colchester and across the country. I gave Cibus 5* because we had good time, ate tasty food, drunk a nice bottle of red, the customer service was friendly and the environment was very pleasant. Good luck for the future.
