Fast becoming my local on a Friday lunchtime... their large choice of bitters, ales and lager on tap plus the highly recommended all-day- breakfast is second to none!

Lives up to its name as the Cosiest Pub on the Quay, great home cooked food, brilliant landlord, landlady and bar staff and a great bunch of people who drink in there.

What an absolute gem of a pub. Rod the landlord is a fantastic host and all of his bar staff are super friendly and helpful. But the hidden secret to this pub is the fantastic food that comes out of the kitchen, reasonably priced and excellent quality. Thanks so much guys. The solar boys 🙂

Without a doubt the best pub meal I have had in the past 5 years. Roast Brisket was amazing. I'm from Manchester and have been working here for 2 days. Traditional home cooked food 10 out of 10.

What a lovely traditional pub this Is. We only stopped by because it was instant monsoon season and we took shelter within. We were welcomed very warmly and was made soft drinks for the kids and a very nice cup of coffee for us. The place was very clean and the toilets amongst the cleanest I've seen for a very long time. The staff and customers were very nice and would definitely recommend for a stop by if you're in the area.

Haven’t been here for years but popped in for a couple of pints and was pleasantly surprised what a nice pub it is. Everyone was friendly and it even served food which was an added bonus and good selection of food options. Definitely worth a visit

Lovely local pub with a nice atmosphere. Always pop in for some food when I’m up from London, simply because the food is delicious and so reasonably priced. Highly recommended!!

Decent little boozer, they came round with some complimentary spuds on a Sunday afternoon and I've not seen that done since the 80s. Nice little touch that even tho I'd just eaten lol.

I cannot rave enough about this pub. Superb food, lots of it, beer is kept really well and they have great choices including guest ales. One of the safest Covid environments in Colchester and just as a last thing - the landlord, landlady and all the staff are just excellent. If you want an old school pub, with old school hospitality look no further.
