First visit, and I'm so glad we came here! The food was amazing (highly recommend the steak & kidney pudding) and the service is great! It's worth booking in advance as we arrived on a Sunday at 12.30pm and there was only one table left, so we were lucky - best pub food experience we have had in a very long time

We are lucky to live in Peldon and eat at the Plough a lot. The food is always delicious and reasonably priced. The pub is very friendly. We have never had a bad meal there.

Celebrated my mother in laws birthday in the gardens with a bbq. Beautiful locally sourced meat, salads, rolls and coleslaw. Josie and Jack were so attentive and even decorated the garden too. Well done to new chef Jack he did us proud on such a hot day. It was perfect, thank you so much xxxx

The Peldon Plough is a friendly welcoming pub run by a lovely young couple who recently took over ownership. It has a good selection of beers and wines, a nice varied menu that's reasonably priced and you dine in a cosy room with lots of character. Be prepared for a warm welcome from Ponto the owners dog

Cosy country pub. Barmaid very attentative to customers and pleasant. Ordered Thai Chicken Panini with chips and chilli beef jacket potato. Arrived well presented and wife's meal came with 2 good sized jacket potatoes. Another great bonus is that it is DOG FRIENDLY. Definitely well worth a visit if in the Mersea area. Also does Thai food at reasonable prices

Stopped at the Peldon Plough for a drink to wait for the strood causeway to Mersea to be uncovered, and what a little gem it is. Lovely old Essex pub with great local beers and friendly staff and locals alike. Dog friendly inside which is great. We didn’t eat this time but saw lots of food coming out which looked and smelt amazing. Menu was a good mix of pub classics and some finer bits too. Can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend.

What a great find! We weren’t sure what the menu would offer as we couldn’t find one online, but on arrival it was exactly what we were looking for - and all sounded delicious. One of the best caeser salads I’ve ever had! Great portion sizes and delicious, home cooked food. Friendly staff and a roaring fire too. Highly recommend!

I held my 50th birthday party at The Plough in Peldon. Thanks so much to Jack, Jade and all the team in making my evening extra special and giving me memories to treasure. All my friends and family that joined us commented on the amazing service and fantastic buffet food. The disco was rocking and we didn’t want the evening to end! Parking is easy and a couple of older guests found it very comfortable to get around (especially the easy access to the toilets). A brilliant pub! I highly recommend The Plough for a drink, fabulous food and to celebrate any occasion!

Visited with family (and pooch) for Sunday roast after a blustery wet walk. Very cosy and warm. Log burner in restaurant. Very welcoming and engaging staff both from the bar and the kitchen. Food portion was great. Gravy was lovely and there was plenty of it (always a dealbreaker with a roast). Pudding was OK (we had the brownie), again, great portion size, but a bit 'cakey' rather tham gooey like a brownie. Really enjoyed out dinner out. Would definitely return, thanks for the great service

We were looking for somewhere to grab some lunch and were in the area so gave it a try. A nice menu based off of BBQ style approach. We had a mixture between us of different burgers, chicken, fries etc. It was all really nice served in basket style approach. Fries were some of the best I have had. Would go back. Only marked down one star as it's pretty expensive.

Would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at the Plough for hosting our Wedding reception. Wonderfully organised. Completely took all the worries away from us allowing us to enjoy our special day. Bar staff and presentation of the garden was all excellent. The BBQ was excellent and buffet was way more than we were expecting. They went way and above what we were hoping for. Can not recommend them enough. 🔔🍾🤵‍♂️👰‍♀️🕺
