My partner and I decided that we were going to have an afternoon out and following a recommendation from a work colleague, decided to give this place a go.
Upon entering the 2 members of staff at the seating post were talking between themselves but greeted us promptly and showed us to a table straight away. The waitress brought over our menus and the specials were pointed out to us prior to taking our drinks orders. Upon our drinks being brought over, we were asked if we were ready to order, to which we were. We received our food and were straight away offered sauces. We also had a check back shortly after. The food was so good that despite my partner not being able to finish the main, we still ordered dessert.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and would definitely recommend The Princess Charlotte to our friends.
First time visiting the restaurant, and we was all pleasantly surprised with the amazing service and food.
We was served by a young lady who seemed very happy to be working, and was very polite whilst having a laugh too. The service was outstanding.
The food was amazing, by far better any other restaurant that I have ever been to! We had 4 meals and all was very hot and tasty!
Will be coming back, and will 100% recommend it to others! �

Our first visit to this new pub. Very impressed polite staff,, spacious inside we had a table in the loung area which was nice and food was nicely presented and delicious,,, the wine was rather expensive tho. Will definately go back
There was a large group of us who ate here last night. The staff all round from the waitress to the chef were very good. We had very quick service and nothing was too much trouble. The meals came out very quickly and everyone enjoyed their meal. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant and will be going back soon.

First visit here. Lots of parking spaces, weekend may be different. The restaurant was lovely, staff friendly, polite and helpful. Waiting time between meals was perfect. Food served very hot and presentation was lovely. Will definitely visit again.
Nice and clean, dog and family friendly. Loved how the menu has a full calorie breakdown - would like to see more options for nutritional needs and allergies on the menu as these aren't preferences but actual requirements.

We had a fantastic 3 meat roast here today, the service was brilliant and our waitress Georgina was 1st class, we had a lovely dessert too, we will definitely be going back, food was ready in about 10mins so we didn't have too wait long at all.
We went for our family Christmas meal here. The food was good. Tomato and basil soup was tasty but quite bitty however the beef and Mash was very delicious and a nice waffle for dessert! The cocktails were insane especially the bellini and candy cane special cocktail. 2 for 12 aswell so good price and great quality! Atmosphere was nice and the lady serving us was lovely and kept our drinks coming!
Great meal. 14 of us and the service was very good. Food was nice too.. except for my sister's chicken salad ... the chicken was shredded and looked like tuna mayo rather than pieces of chicken. Also , the batter on the cod was overcooked on my cousin's fish n chips meal. But all meals came out hot and together which is fab as so many of us. Overall a great experience
I don't think I was expecting much from this restaurant however I was wrong. The food is is excellent and price wise very good. The waitress was friendly with a sense of humour which we loved. The staff in general were happy and helpful. The restaurant was clean and bright. Will definitely be going back
Popped in for some low key lunch and wasn't disappointed! The building itself is quite large, with a lovely decor inside that mixes old with new in a very successful way. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Apparently the gravy in a cute gravy boat (part of children's menu) is as good as school dinner's gravy according to our daughter, and she absolutely loved it. It was really delicious, and I couldn't resist pouring it over my rotisserie chicken 😋! The dessert came on a very pretty plate, and it was enough for two. We will be back.
Update :The chicken platter and banana Twix sundae we ordered didn't disappoint!

Went there on a Friday night. Fantastic atmosphere due to it being nice and busy. Service was great, efficient and quick. The food was very good for standard pub food and good value. Will definitely return
Visited for the first time today for lunch with my husband and son. Didn’t book a table. The food was delicious and came quickly. Would highly recommend the rotisserie chicken - it was very moist and flavoursome. Our waitress, Georgina, was lovely and friendly. She was especially good with my young son. Will be coming again!
I visited with my daughter at lunchtime on one of the very hottest days of the year. Luckily the pub has air conditioning, It also has outdoor seating, but it's very close to, and faces directly on to a busy roundabout.
The place was very clean. Fairly standard pub menu with good prices. Food was very delicious, although they skimped on the chips - which were absolutely gorgeous!
We had a very attentive and friendly waitress, and spent a good long time in there, with no pressure to leave the table.
I would definitely visit again. A lovely experience.
We went here for the first time today and both had the chicken roast and then apple pie for dessert which were both delicious. The service was amazing as our waiter (don’t know by name but he had light brown hair) was polite and really attentive the whole time, making sure to check back and ask us how our meals were and if we needed anything. In particular he asked us if we needed more drinks right after our glasses had emptied without us having to wait anytime at all or try to grab someone’s attention for more, which was great and surprising considering the restaurant is very affordable so we didn’t anticipate that kind of service. We will definitely be returning and recommending this restaurant particularly the chicken roast to our friends :)
Great food, impeccable service. The atmosphere was good but very loud, so it made it difficult to hear people on the opposite side of the table. Food options were great, with a lot of variance for those with specific dietary requirements.
There is a great new addition to this Friendly Pub.
A small function room has been built by the side of the restaurant area. Ideal for a family gathering or office party. The decor is beautiful.
A fantastic visit after a long cold day at the zoo! I honestly can't fault them - the meals were all delicious, the waitress was very friendly (and great with children) and the atmosphere was wonderful. Great way to end the weekend in Colchester.
Our waitress Georgina was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about menu items. She really went the extra mile in delivering great service. I have been served by her many times and always had very welcoming and friendly service and would definitely return again :)
It was very nice, we were in a new add extention which was , light and bright with fabulous modern designs with leave patterns and nice wallpaper...
The food was hot and tasty, service by a polite and friendly young lady!
