Although a frequent visitor to Mersea Island, never been in The Coast Inn before, just wandered past. Such a lovely little place to eat and watch the world go by. Food was great. Loved the sofas, somewhere to sit and read or just gather your thoughts. Must make a point of returning on a cold winter's day and sit by the fire.

Visited today for father day so it was very busy and was impressed by the excellent service on such a busy day. Staff were friendly especially a lovely lady who I believe was called Belinda who got a big hug from our daughter. We all had a starters and a mains and they were all lovely. My skate was slightly undercooked which is easily done considering the thickness of it however they were very quick to rectify it and the replacement was delicious. This isn’t a criticism because all restaurants can make a mistake and it’s the way it is handled is what makes a good restaurant and they couldn’t have handled it any better. Lovely food, lovely staff and excellent service. Best place on the island in my opinion. Will go again x

Been going here for years but don't think i've ever left a review (please forgive me!) THE best food. The fish and chips is a total classic but everything else i've had has also been amazing. Also definitely ask to see the dessert menu, its ace! I had the warm cookie dough and ice-cream and holy moly it was good! Basically if you go to Mersea you must go here!!

What a beautiful setting for really fabulous food! We could watch the sunset as we ate. It gets very busy and we were lucky to get a table but staff were friendly and happy for us to move the tables around a bit. The food was reasonably priced for the size of the portions and the quality of the food.

We had a baby shower here recently where we hired out the whole top floor and the staff were fantastic as well as the wonderful space. It was a beautiful day and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Thanks for helping us make some lovely memories.

Amazing staff! We came last second without a reservation as our original choice of restaurant had the wrong hours listed. They took us in and promptly took our order. They stayed on top of it making sure we had everything we needed. The food came out quickly and tasted amazing! My husband had the Angus burger and I had the seafood platter. I also added a hot chocolate with a shot of Malibu half way through. It has a cute interior with a coastal theme. The menu is simple with about 5-6 items listed per section. I'd say it's medium priced nothing crazy but not cheap either. We were very satisfied with our experience and would highly recommend.

Visited the Coast Inn today for an early dinner by the sea. The location is great sitting either out front look out at the boat yard or inside, and both dog friendly. They have their own parking too which is an advantage in this area of Mersea. Staff were very friendly and there is a great range of drinks including beers. We both had fish and chips that were fresh and beautifully cooked. Highly recommended and will be back soon.

Mid week lunch. We sat upstairs and out on the balcony. It was sunny and sheltered. The food was good and the waiting time short.

Really nice coffee and two of us had a light breakfast and I had toast and marmite. Very helpful staff. Sat outside with a lovely view. Picnic tables were a bit uncomfortable . Climbing over tables are a bit old hat now. The benches are quite difficult to climb over. The view is wonderful though which more than makes up for the uncomfortable tables. Good parking opposite the Pub which is a real bonus!
