Food is fantastic and portions are very generous. Duck was cooked perfectly and they didn't scrimp on the crab in the crab taglatelle. Highly recommend and we'll be back soon!
Myself and my husband turned up this evening without booking, however the friendly staff fit us in with no issues. Absolutely stunning food, and excellent service too. We will definitely back in a few weeks!

Another great meal. I was brave and tried chicken liver starter and it was fantastic. Fillet foie gras was also excellent. We will be back again.

Been here several times (infrequently as I don't live very close), but it is always top notch food, nicely presented, top quality and the restaurant itself is lovely.
Family owned. The chef is brilliant, he’s always there and everything is made under his supervision. Make sure you sit in the lower floor, best starter is the avocado prawn and fried mushrooms for mains have smoked chicken risotto and the lobster spaghetti. I always come back to this place. Remember to book your table because it’s always busy.
I was recommended this place by someone who was born in Italy and booked it for the family. We all loved it and I know my daughter is going to want to return. Great food, attentive service. We will be coming back. Lots.
I’m no expert in Italian food but this place definitely serves delicious, authentic Italian cuisine! Pasta is served in both small and big portions, even the salad was tasty. Would personally recommend the mushroom tagliatelle

Amazing, I took my fiancée here and she loved it, we both had the seafood pasta which was big and delicious! the staff is very friendly friendly and the decoration is lovely, makes you feel like you are in Italy.
There are two Il Padrino, both the same on the same road. Really good pizza as well as pasta, best Pizza in Colchester for me.
No kids menu, but they do have high chairs.
Service is good, but they do get busy, lots of people, so sometimes not the quickest, but helpful.
Price is reasonable and comparable with a Pizza Express type chain, although I think Il Padrino is better at both Pizza and Pasta.
Fantastic food and atmosphere! Quality menu, surprisingly well-priced. The scallops in bacon starter is unmissable!
Great restaurant and staff, seated us for a team night out and everyone cleared their plates, plenty of choice even if you don't like Italian food! Service was great.
Great Italian, I particularly like the choice of Fresh Fish available daily. They have a very good lunch menu or like me choose some fish from the specials board.

Always Consistent, Fab Food, amazing choice of Specials and a Great Menu! Loved my Risotto, perfectly cooked followed by Crab Gratin which was very tasty. All four of us were delighted with our meals.
The Restaurant was very busy and there was a lovely atmosphere, candlelit tables with beautiful white linen table clothes and napkins and very good service .

Can't belive it me has taken me until yesterday to visit il Padrino for the first time. The food was absolutely delicious and felt authentically Italian. Good portion sizes and reasonable prices. The fish specials board is excellent!
The downstairs area is beautiful with the painted murals, so I recommend asking to sit there. Service was excellent, prompt and friendly.
Overall, this is the best Italian restaurant in Colchester!

The food really is excellent, authentically cooked. Salmon was very tender and Rich in flavours, perfectly cooked. Sadly for me, all the pasta is cooked with eggs, vegans be warned, yet there is still other options but not many. A little over priced for portion size yet absolutely delicious! BTW I must say, in fact, I would prefer to rate 3.5 but 3 is underbaking it and it's all a matter of taste! Certainly appreciate a lovely meal, but the guy didn't like me sitting alone up stairs, not a lot of breathing space on the ground kitchen floor for me with a tourist sized rucksack. Yet i was met with politeness and pleasantries from the waitress and it was nice to relax up stairs.

Went here for a wedding reception. The place had only been open for two days in its new location. The food was delicious and the service very good. There were about fifty of us which filled up most of the space and the three waiting staff coped really well. I would heartily recommend this place.

Muscles were amazing! Plump and tasty. The steak was out of this world. With the weather turning it was a little chilly downstairs when other customers can in but hardly noticeable if I am to eat.
