Had a lovely meal for my mum's birthday, sat in one of the tables by the bar, nice and quite and the food was to die for. All four of us were happy with our food and the portions were of good size with plenty of options of potato and veg. Mum was very pleased with her steak and we shall definitely return :) thumbs up!!!!!

Lovely traditional British food. My steak and Ale pie was delicious and I can’t wait to go back and have it again. We were a group of 8 and nothing was to much trouble. We will definitely be back!!

Visited this lovely restaurant with friends who had used it many times before and was not disappointed. Food was fabulous, service was excellent all freshly produce on the day and home made. I had to the rack of lamb which was cooked to perfection, the fish pie was excellent with large pieces of fish and very tasty and excellent portion sizes the desserts were also very good. I Would highly recommend this gem to anybody who is looking for quality fresh food in a lovely setting.

Loved it. Wish I was in the main dining area but we had a larger number and someone's gotta sit out the back I suppose. Food was yummy. Service was great. Altho our waiter did describe something incorrect to how it arrived but they quickly apologised and brought extra mash when asked. Nothing was a trouble it made you feel. Really recommend this place. Book well ahead.

Really lovely pub, but not enough parking for all customers, food was delicious and reasonably priced for such good quality cuisine. Wine was lovely but eye wateringly expensive. Do I recommend this place? You bet..

What a fabulous pub with a thatched roof. We were worried if there was going to be a table as the car park was so full but all the staff were so accommodating and friendly, although we did decide to sit outside in the end due to the nice weather. The food was absolutely delicious probably one of the best steak and kidney pies I've had. They also knew how to look after the cask ales. It's definitely worth a visit and we will definitely be going back. Unfortunately my photos don't do the food justice.

Well worth waiting for. Has been on the list for some time as word locally is it's a great place to eat. And the word was correct. This was an evening for 3 of us. Parking a little tight so being early for your definitely required reservation is advisable. Thatched period building just aching with history. We were welcomed at he bar and immediately shown to our table where menu delivered and drinks orders taken. It was compact and a little tight but if you don't mind that it was comfortable. Antipasti whilst choosing from the menu was very generous. Designed for two but would easily have done for for 5 or 6. Full selection and the lemon olive oil was lovely. Starters, battered whitebait, pate and mushrooms Beautiful. Very generous portíons. Onion relish/pickle that came with the pate something of a star in its own right Two items chosen from the specials board and one from the menu. Special 1: duck in a reduced blackberry sauce, 2:slow roasted lamb shank and wild mushrooms Menu: chicken with brie and mushrooms. See below for pics. Wonderful. Plates hot, presentation was careful and clearly thoughtfully done, prompt polite cheerful and knowledgeable service and the food? Well superb may just cover it. Totally lovely. We didn't have dessert but I'm sure they would have been as good. Fully recommend this as a lovely location, not private but intimate, well presented, great food. All round lovely evening.

I had the most incredible steak here, it was cooked perfectly and flavoured to match. The service was outstanding, I was treated like a local despite it being my first visit. I was made to feel welcomed and wanted, and the whole atmosphere was super friendly. I could not compliment the food enough, as stated, the steak was incredible, and the mussels to start were easily the best I have ever eaten. I will be coming again and again!

Thank you “the Linny” coffinswell I haven’t been for managing years - I used to love the place but life takes over sometimes - but our revisit was very overdue and VERY worth making We try to have a roast on a Sunday but we are often busy during the day and so like to eat in the evening Soooo many places stop serving by 8 and from experience even if you get there by 7:30 you are rushed and made to feel uncomfortable Carveries are too often the remnants that have stood around for a while. And non carveries are variable at best - all too often you can’t even get a roast as they have unexpectedly sold out - again!! We have even experienced one where after mains we weren’t offered deserts and the staff stood behind the bar chatting and ignoring us But the Linny take bookings up till 9 pm - and when we phoned to enquire they were very helpful and welcoming. This continued when we arrived at about 8:00 - amazing attentive but not pushy service, weren’t made to feel we had to rush and were offered deserts, coffee and allowed to take as long as we wanted The food was fab - great choice of roasts - my lamb was gorg and Clive enjoyed his turkey - lovely roasties and nice selection of veg. And the Desserts - salted caramel brownie for Clive and brioche bread and butter pud with a lovely caramelised crust - were a delight Suffice to say the place was still buzzing and serving happy dinners when we left at about 9:30. lots of birthday family groups as well as couples and friends We will def be back again and again and again Lovely atmosphere. Great service. Fab food

Went for lunch with my sister-in-law & my niece. It was on a Wednesday & luckily we booked a table as it was extremely busy. We only went for lunch but the food that was coming out looked so nice that we had a 2 course meal. The food was excellent as was the service & the atmosphere & I'm looking forward to going there again soon.

Lovely cosy pub. The food was excellent, the brill fish in tempura batter was so lovely it was the best meal I've had in a while. I am not a local, which is a shame as I'd love to return, but maybe in the future. Until then, it will stay in my mind as a great meal had whilst away on holiday and somewhere I'd recommend to anyone visiting the area.

What a pleasure. Beautiful building inside and out. Excellent service. They certainly have enough staff and very polite and courteous. Went as a party of 4. Three of us had the roast dinner. Excellent meat and vegetable portions. All very tasty. Only one negative, one bowl of roasters and New potatoes (9 very small new potatoes between 4 of us). Despite this, I WILL be going again. The variety of deserts was outstanding. Loved the place.

Really lovely Saturday lunch in a 14th century thatched pub situated in the village location of Coffinswell. Good quality plain cooking, very well executed, and where possible using locally sourced ingredients. Friendly and polite staff, perfectly reasonable selection of beer and a couple of ciders. It would be great to see a couple of British wines / sparkling wines on the drinks menu as there are some very good ones around and some local vineyards.

Must be one of the top restaurants in Devon. Brilliant service - no waiting for drinks or food. Food absolutely delicious. Hot, hot plates and hot, well cooked, well presented food. Must visit more often. Would, without reservation, thoroughly recommend. The Roast Lamb and sticky ginger pudding was a delight.

First time of eating at the Linny last night and it won't be my last I hope. It was busy with a lovely atmosphere. Food was very good with plenty of choice and reasonable too. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Food was very prompt, in fact I personally prefer more time between courses, but certainly not a complaint. Only downside for me was I felt a little squashed in as tables very close together. I will certainly be eating there again. Thank you.

Food excellent, Service excellent, Atmosphere excellent. Staff were very good, polite and attentive . When we were there when the place was full, had to wait a little longer for meal, but we'll worth it. Compensated with extra home baked grannery bread and dip which was welcome. Have been to the Linney a few times and have always had good meal. Recomend 11 out of 10. One does not come out of the Linney hungry.

Used to go to the owners other pubs years ago as a boy with my family. As the years went by forgot about the Linny. We have been looking for a new pub/restaurant to go to with good beer and good food. So for my step daughters birthday was a good reason to try somewhere new. So we gave it a try we were not disappointed really great food and jail ale 🙏. Also thought it might be a bit dark being a summers evening but it was really nice up stairs with lots of windows great room. We will be back for Sunday roast next 👍

Food is excellent and the staff very friendly. A food only pub really but they do that very well. No WiFi available though. Down some very narrow country lanes to get there - not a place you will happen across. Car park gets full so book and arrive early is my advice.
