We went to The Anchor Inn for dinner. This place is dog friendly which is a bonus. The staff are friendly and helpful!
What a lovely pub. The interior is fascinating. Everywhere you look it’s something related to fishing, boats and the sea.
What a wonderful meal we had. The mains were both so tasty. The banoffee pudding was so tasty.
If you are in the area I would recommend visiting this pub for food.
We were recommended this place as serving the best mussels. They weren’t wrong as they were the best I have ever had. There was a choice of about six different mussel dishes which was a treat. I had them as a starter and you get a really generous portion. A lovely traditional old pub with beams. Really big inside with a section you can take dogs. The waiting staff were all lovely.
Nice pub with outdoor seating. Good place to have a meal overlooking Cockwood harbour. We had wholetail scampi & chips, scampi very good, a lot of chips had black bits in them. ( should be using better potatoes at these prices) Highly recommend the Banoffe pie for pud, very good. Pub is right next to the road, so there is a steady flow of passing traffic but fairly slow speed. Wasn't a problem for us.
What a superb country pub.
A proper old-school landlord who looks after the Cask ale so it is well kept - 4/5 kegs available when we visited.
The landlord welcomes the customers in.
Very friendly staff.
Clean.
Food looked excellent but a bit expensive for my pocket although we visited for drinks 5 times during our stay. Don't let that put you off - if you can afford to go it looks well worth a try - I wish I could have afforded to eat here.
The eating tables seemed booked up most nights we visited.
Lovely outdoor seating area looking over the harbour.
I would recommend.
I highly recommend The Anchor Inn, it's a lovely old building and the food was excellent. I really enjoyed the Moroccan mussels. The waiting staff are friendly and knowledgeable and the building has a cracking atmosphere. If I lived locally this would definitely be a regular place to visit
Such a great place for eating and pub, charming old building, outstanding food and service. I wish I knew it before, we'll be back soon .
This is by far the best place I’ve ever eaten muscles. They have a wide variety of flavours (I went for the Devon Muscles in the picture) and each time I’ve been here and every flavour I have tried have been amazing. If you are in the area this is a must try! Also the view is stunning, so sitting outside is a bonus! The staff are also lovely and attentive. Excellent place.
Really couldn't fault this pub. Staff were friendly and attentive, food came quickly and was delicious with large portions, for a reasonable price. Overheard other customers asking for variations from the menu and the kitchen were happy to accommodate all reasonable requests. Booking recommended. Small car park behind the pub.

One of the best sea food in my life. Huge plate with various muscles and 2 lobsters. Everything deeped in garlic/parsley butter which makes it even tastier. Highly recommend!
Thank you for this experience, I really, really enjoyed food.
Popped over for lunch and was not disappointed. I opted for mussels and was very happy, delicious! A little gem of a pub I will go back to.
