An absolute MUST if your in the Lake District. One of the best afternoon teas ever. Better then some of the big hotels in London. So much delicious food for an amazing price. Staff was amazing and helpful. Loved it.

Loved it! We stopped on the off chance they could fit us in for coffee and cake and we're very pleased to be squeezed in. Normally booking is a MUST particularly if you would like the very comprehensive Afternoon Tea. Decor is lovely, and really gives the atmosphere of a genuine art deco train... you wouldn't have been surprised to see Agatha Christie in the next carriage πŸ˜‰

Brilliant staff and food. Definitely would return. Atmosphere only got 4 stars as no background period music. While eating felt that we were listening to other customers conversations. (Won't stop us coming back).

This place is amazing! Fantastic food (had full Cumbrian and full veggie breakfasts). The staff are all very friendly and the boss, Poppy, is very welcoming 😊 Simon and Diane have worked so hard to the minute details, even a bird hide and book swap. A must for anyone staying in or near the lakes!

A really warm welcome and friendly service. Food was very good and generous portions. Check out the wall of "famous" visitors. Quirky place to stop for lunch, very enjoyable experience.

Very nice surroundings to be able to dine like your on the orient express! Classically styled dining cars and an interesting menu. Some tasty options for brunch, very much enjoyed with some delicious desserts too. Dog friendly too which was great. One to revisit.

Wowzers!!! My new favourite place in the UK for afternoon tea. The service was incredible, the food was divine (you'll need a doggy box which are in plentiful supply!) And...the setting...is amazing. I used to live in Bass and saw the beginnings of this project. The results are awesome ...a HUGE well done to everyone πŸ‘πŸ‘

Once inside there's a great oldy worldy feel to the train, blinds at the windows and fans too. Lovely friendly understanding staff (and customers) as our dog had just been scared by the two jets flying over (we'd booked for 2pm) so laid a bit in the middle rather than underneath the table. Food was tasty, sadly too full then for pudding which was a shame as so much choice! On the station are toilets, books for sale and further down a wooded bit for dogs and to watch the birds feeding. Cars park on the lane and gets very busy!
