Amazing pizza, and the crust is the best I have had in a long time ! Tasty and crunchy. You also have to try the tiramisu, it’s home made and it’s to die for. The owners (both Italian) are lovely and very welcoming. Thank you for a nice meal, I’d come back in a heart beat.

Had a super time here, very friendly The food was superb recommend you book as there are only a few tables. The pizza was lovely and crispy base which I love. Service is very prompt, and if you can't eat in, you can take it away, so if you are in Cockermouth and want pizza, this is the place for you

Fermento's is such an amazing pizzeria and restaurant. The atmosphere feels like being at a home with the family. Carla was such a great host. We felt so welcomed. The food was some of the best Italian I've ever had. The pizza was crispy and chewy. The sauce was so sweet and all the ingredients were packed full of vibrant flavours. The Caprese salad was so fresh that it was if they had grown the tomatoes themselve. The buratta cheese was so creamy. The tiramisu was absolutely the best desert to finish the meal off. I would highly recommend booking a table and eating in. They also do take away, but make sure you get your order in early because they can sell out of their freshly made pizza dough.

Great little place, food is great. Pizza arrived in a couple of minutes and all fresh ingredients, tasted great and well cooked. Tiramisu to follow was one of the best ever followed by an espresso. Great place not many table.

A charming and cozy, shop front, Italian run, family restaurant and takeaway pizza place. Friendly and helpful service (Carla). Daily specials, drinks menu, and dessert options. An array of delicious crispy base, pizza variations, with Italian regional flavours to complement the typical pizza types and other Italian dishes. Veggie options and salads. A short walk from public paid parking, £1 after 7pm. Advise booking for Friday dinners, as it was full with happy diners!

What a find! A friendly and talented young couple from Emilia-Romagna - the foodie region of Italy - made their home in the wettest (but beautiful) part of the UK : in the pretty and characterful town of Cockermouth. And, true to form, they are serving the best pizza I have had for a seriously long time. They do it in style too. If you want to eat-in and take in the friendly family atmosphere, you are well advised to book one of the four (maybe five?) tables. They also make take-away. ones. I would suggest you have it there though. What’s the pizza like? Well, to begin with it is made from the best classic ingredients, with no corners cut, they use slowly ripened flavourful dough and the best way to describe it is that this is what a good pizza should be like. They serve starters, pizza and desserts. Everything we tried was outstanding. There is a nice choice of drinks, not overpriced good wines and I really enjoyed a G&T with limoncello. What else? They are just nice people - the kind that I would invite for a meal to my home. Oh, and well behaved dogs are welcome there. I am so pleased they are only an hour and a half from where we live - we will go back there!

Wow this place is great! Pizza is incredible, vegans well catered for, service good and the house wines are brilliant. Small place so book well in advance, it’s 100% worth it.

I have traveled to Italy several times and I have tried a lot of pizza there and this was as good as any pizza I have had anywhere. A genuine 10 out of 10 pizza. No starters or sides (we did get take out not sure if this was why) but it made absolutely no difference as the pizzas we ordered were sumptuous. We will definitely be eating here again if we are back in the area.

Our favourite restaurant in Cumbria. We love the cosy atmosphere and we always have a great family meal out at Fermento's. The owners are lovely, and the pizzas are delicious, but my favourite has to be the homemade mascarpone with sour cherries. I would definitely recommend this pizzaria

Absolutely delicious pizza, we've eaten pizza in Rome and New York and this was easily up there with some of the best! The Smoky Margarita and The Breathtaker were both delicious as was the Caprese salad. Lovely little restaurant too with excellent service and nice cocktails.

Fermento is the best traditional Italian restaurant in the Lake District. The menu offers a variety of authentic Italian dishes, which had the warmth of homemade food. The chef, Alessandro, takes care selecting fresh local food and genuine Italian ingredients. The service was outstanding. Carla is always around willing to help you with nice description of each dish and wine selection. If you never been before at Fermento I would strongly suggest the “Italian experience”. A seasonal menu, which includes six different dishes in a testing menu of four courses. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough!

I only write about one review a year. I have to be wowed to be bothered. Highly recommended; freshly is the word. I’d also consider their chianti if your budget can stretch to it (way beyond the quality you’d discover in most restaurants).

Do not listen to David Ruddy, the man clearly wouldn't know good pizza if it slapped him in the face. This place is a 10/10, arguably the best pizza I've had in my life. Do yourself a favor and try it, you won't be disappointed.

Very traditional Italian cuisine with great service. The courses were slightly larger than I expected, so be careful when ordering multiple courses. The Ancient Pie was great, the Lasagne was traditional, with not much meat and no extras. I intended to have the Apple Turnover for desert, but I was too full and settled for some ice cream!
