The best flat white in town. Cakes are excellent , bacon and brie on toast fantastic combo.
A superb book shop the has come back from the floods again! The selection of books is far reaching and there's a superb little cafe at the back selling cracking cheese scones to go with a coffee. Lovely.

Lovely little bookshop, with a nice cafe at the back. Has various events on through the month, though I haven't been to any. Good stock of fiction books too, especially crime.

The three of us had lunch here today, all freshly made and tasted delicious. Sat upstairs very comfortable and peaceful atmosphere. All the staff were very pleasant. Lovely place to browse and buy books.

The New Bookshop is a gem. A fantastic range of local and international books - knowledgeable and friendly staff, room to browse and read, tables and chairs outside on the pavement lend a continental atmosphere. Truly a special place and one to savour !

This is not only a bookstore with a wide variety of subjects in stock but had a lovely cafe with very helpful staff. I had lunch here which consisted of salmon and scrambled eggs with a black Americano. Very tasty. Among the topics of books in stock are local publications, travel books, fiction and a good section of puzzle books. Something there for all tastes.
Nice food and good people - they lost a star only because they had run out of parsnip soup and cheese scones :-D Mind you the sweet potato and carrot replacement was delicious! Star back on again. Not the cosiest of cafes but nice.
A lovely atmosphere with delicious home baked food. The staff are always very helpful and friendly. I go there quite a lot, I love the home baked scones and the bread for scrambled eggs.

A great book shop with plenty of choice for the reader and the staff are always so helpful. Managed to get a book that had just been released. Couldn't believe it when I saw it in The New Bookshop so quickly. There is also a very nice cafe downstairs and upstairs. The best hot chocolate I've ever had.
My favourite bookshop, huge variety of books so great for picking out something new or a present for younger/older relatives. Staff recommendations are always fantastic so check the shelf especially for their picks or ask any of the incredibly friendly staff members. Also a great cafe in the back!
Beautiful bookshop with an excellent cafe. We sat out the front reading our purchases and it had a lovely vibe.
The cakes and tea was excellent. The staff were lovely and would happily help with any problems. I also love the fact that I could sneak off and read a book as the book shop is right next to it. Would definitely recommend to others!βββββ
This bookshop in cockermouth main street is really worth a visit. Local books fiction and non fiction by local authors. Classics in readable form. Great selection in any genre. Wonderful children's corner with a super selection of children's books. All this and a great cafe too.
