Absolutely gorgeous. Me and my friends came in last minute for food, we were seated by a lovely waitress who couldn't do enough for us. We all really enjoyed our meals. I ordered the surf and turf, the steak was perfectly cooked, it was delicious and locally sourced. Wonderful, thank you

Great place staff very friendly food great although so much I probably won't eat anything else for at least a day. Was my granddaughters 18th birthday party and she thoroughly enjoyed it.

The Castle Bar is one of the best drinking establishment that I've been in!.. The bar itself is full of well kept and well presented real ales! :) served by friendly and welcoming staff! :) Oh... And the beer was only £2 a pint!!!! :) :) 11/10 Castle Bar... Well Done!..

The food was lovely. We ate in the restaurant upstairs the staff are friendly and nothing too much trouble. Also dog friendly to eat in the bar area.

My Husband and I were getting married in the Town hall and wanted a space that was both intermate, local and within a short distance from the Town hall also. The castle bar being a 2 minute walk seemed perfect and after meeting with the staff and seeing the bar itself we decided to hold our wedding reception there. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful through out the lead upto our wedding day we really can't fault them. Kirsty was a great help with organising how the reception would go down to the finer details and ensuring everything was right before hand. My family and friends loved The Castle bar and commented on how good the food and service was. We would reccomend The Castle bar to anyone looking to get married in Cockermouth and who want a nice small, intimate wedding. Thank you for making our day extra special.

First time whilst visiting family in cumbria. Didn't have a table booked but they allowed us to use one that was booked later on. Food was amazing and the staff brought me all the herbal teas to choose from. Never ever have I had a cheesecake as good in my life. Exceptional. Price was great to. Friendly, professional and very relaxing. Would recommend to anyone visiting cockermouth.

It was our silver wedding Anniversary on tues 18th July and our daughter had organised a surprise family meal here, there was 13 of us all sat on a long table. Everyone else had pre-ordered their meals, mains and puddings, apart from me and the hubby. It wasn't busy as we were in a room of our own but we waited quite a while for the mains but it didn't disappoint everyone said the food was beautiful and a couple asked for the rest of theirs to take home, the staff were polite and helpful. The puddings were just as lovely and presentation was fantastic, the staff regularly asked us if we needed more drinks or anything else. The only down side was a sticky toffee was pre-ordered with custard, but they didn't have any custard, changed to icecream but if pre-ordered the custard should have been avaiable. A fantastic meal and would definitely recommend x

We dropped in without booking for Sunday lunch. We both had the roast beef dinner which was delicious and plentiful. Sticky toffee pudding and white chocolate raspberry cheesecake for puddings - totally yummy. Draft beer was only £2.20 a pint - we had Jennings Cumberland - also a big hit. Service was attentive and friendly. Excellent!

Probably the best of the pubs we visited in Cockermouth. Nice looking place inside and out. Good service at the bar and a relaxed atmosphere. Music was playing and some sport was on the box but could easily be avoided if not interested in it. Would recommend popping in for a drink.

Regularly pop in with family for a couple of drinks. Best pub in Cockermouth by far. Great choice of drinks, soft drinks and coffees, teas etc and always spotless. Good for watching sport and attracts a good crowd of regulars. Recommend

Whent for sunday dinner and we were not disappointed food is out of this world. Probably one of the best sunday dinners I've had the place is amazing and full of history 5* all the way. If there was a down side is staff could do with being more attentive and we had to ask to get a drink order same with food and dessert.

Met up with a friend to have a couple of pints before he went to a leaving do that was going to be in the bar once the local secondary school finished for the Christmas break. Got in the bar just after three and the place was quiet. As four o clock arrived the bar really filled up with people and there was a real buzz. The service was quick and the staff were polite and friendly. The Wainwright was a good pint.

Delicious food!! Make sure you're hungry when you come here, the portions are very filling! We wanted to try the desserts but had absolutely no room after our amazing homemade steak and ale pies. The filling of the pies was just divine, plenty of meat and delicious sauciness. Definitely recommend a meal here if you're in Cockermouth! Great selection of beers too, including local lake district options.

Didn't eat, but great selection of quality cask ales. Fabulous bar. Very hospitable. Good for sport. Wish it was in Chester as it would be my local!
