Eaten here about a dozen times over the past few months and have never had a bad meal and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. Really good specials that change regularly.

Well did want to give it 4* since there was no log fire but after eating the food and getting a top 100% staff service I had to give it the full 5* treatment plus the allowed me to park my truck hear can't wait to come back and try more food very happy
First time we have been here for a roast and it was lovely. Made a nice change to go out for a roast instead of cooking one and we enjoyed it just as much. We will definitely go back again in the future �

Such a nice place to go has a family we have been going there for a long time around 40 years love it there nice staff polite staff really good food.
Had our Golden Wedding anniversary dinner here. Fantastic food and service. Lovely atmosphere. Nothing to much trouble. Really helpful staff when organising and everyone had a great evening. Everyone loved the food. The carvery was good and other meals were delicious and good portions. Would highly recommend.
Excellent pub, it is huge with plenty of various seating areas.
We hadn't booked but that was no trouble and it was a Saturday late afternoon.

Sam and her team were incredible tonight. Hosted my wife's 40th and nothing was too much trouble, all of the staff were so polite and the food was incredible. Shout out to Alan behind the carvery who treated my 7 year old daughter to all the meats on the carvery and also called out my wife to sing her happy birthday. Amazing service and food. This pub has a good old fashioned feel with a contemporary twist. Like so many places they appear to be struggling to get staff so the level of service is slower than usual. However, the staff are all professional, friendly and apologetic about wait times to be served. Carvery was great, good choices of meat and veggies, well presented & hot. Will definitely be going back soon.
The pub is lovely inside, really nice atmosphere but most of all the carvery was amazing! They even had gluten free cauliflower cheese and gravy! My son is coeliac and I always worry about where we eat but this was easy. Highly recommend.

My Partner and I had the best Carvery in a long time here today. Ellie Our Server/Waitress made the whole meal extremely enjoyable and nothing was a bother. The Meat and veg were delicious. It was very busy but we didn't Q for more than 3 minutes. Thankyou Ellie and The Cat and Fiddle 🐈🎻 xx
Friendly staff. Chef Alan was great with the kids, giving them samples of the roast and inviting them to come around and help plate up their choice. Roast gammon was seriously tasty and they had all the trimmings to go with it (help yourself to the trimmings). Good friendly atmosphere, decent quality food, and the prices were reasonable. If you're around Exeter then worth a try
Always lovely, friendly helpful staff, food has always been great and resonably priced. We have never had a problem, always recommend to family and friends
We visit quite often and always get seated at the same table which our daughter loves she says its nice that such busy people remember us
We stopped here on our way home. Our 2 and 5 year old loved the play area. The food had good size portions and tasted amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful.

My and my grandson's burger and chips tasted terrific, and in such large proportions that he couldn't finish any food for the rest of the day (and this was lunchtime).
Marked down only because my wife was promised that she'd be informed when her carvery was ready but the pleasant waitress brought our burgers then left without telling her anything. So she just went and got it, while we waited.
But I have to say that the food is excellent, they always seem to find you a table quite late into a Sunday afternoon without questioning - and the staff are friendly and helpful.
£57 for 3 main courses, a pint, a half - and a Coke is a good price during this economic crisis.
One thing we noticed when driving into the car park was that many parking spaces were covered in apples that had fallen from the trees, which had been driven over and squashed.
This seems a waste in these times when people are using food banks. So on our way out, my wife filled a carrier bag with the good ones she found. Many desserts could be cheaply produced using these apples - we have been feasting on apple pie since our visit.
But I thoroughly recommend this place - it's a real find.

Love this place. The food is good, the staff are great and the play area for the kids means we can actually sit and chat over food whilst the kids play and then we can feed them when the come for a rest.
Book ahead as it can get busy, but it's busy for a reason.

EDIT 31.07.22. Special mention for Michael on carvery who went the extra mile keeping a little boy happy in front of us in the queue. Michael was very professional, friendly and welcoming and like all of your staff who we've met on our visits, they are a credit to you. A lot of other establishments could do with taking a leaf out of your book! Our dog and 2 cats have enjoyed some of the leftovers and we have our 2 HUGE takeaway tubs to enjoy as well. I over heard 2 separate groups one saying that the carvery was "next level" and the other that the choice of veg was like nothing they've seen before. Thanks for another fabulous meal.
Excellent evening at the Cat and Fiddle. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We rang to book at short notice and spoke to a lovely member of staff called Sam. We went straight over to the Cat and Fiddle and were greeted and seated quickly and orders taken. There were 4 in our party and we each had different meals. I had one of rhe last carvers of the evening as they end at 8pm and it was 20 to when I collected my meal from the carvery counter. The gentleman carving rhe meat was so very polite and had excellent customer service. He even told me about meals on other days. Very refreshing to have such a lovely experience.
The food was tasty and there was plenty of it. The layout of the serving buffet allowed for space between myself and other clients who were putting veg on their plates so I felt Covid safe. The restaurant and bar area both had open airy zones so that clients could sit at the table and not be too closely packed in near others. Over all this was a very lovely experience and I am very much looking forward to returning and having another meal here.
The car park area was very large, there is another entrance for disabled access and the inside has flat areas so if you arepushing someone it makes it far easier on you.
