Went in spur of the moment on Saturday tea time with our young son, everything from start to finish was fab. The staff were very polite and friendly and the steaks were cooked as requested, children's meal was more than plentiful. Unbeknownst to the staff we were celebrating our wedding anniversary so was a perfect end to an already lovely day. Would eat here again x

Absolutely amazing experience. The food was divine, the staff were so obliging and friendly. I ordered a steak, usually not available until 5pm. It was 2.45pm and the chef agreed to cook me a steak. This was my first visit here, but believe me, I'll be back sooner rather than later. Excelllent plus!

When we come to Clitheroe it's the first place we visit. The food and service is excellent. Thank you Maxwells. May your success continue.

I have been here a few times and always had a good experience and tonight was the first time I brought my kids. There was a mix up with the order, however the staff explained exactly what had happened and what they were doing to rectify the mistake. We were offered complimentary drinks. The staff were extremely friendly and when we received the food it was excellent. Will definitely be back :-)

Love the variety of food on the menu. Service great as always. We popped in with our 3 year old and she was given some crayons and a menu to colour in and keep her occupied until her food arrived. Yet to have a bad experience. Definitely one of our favourite eateries in Clitheroe.

On business recently I had to kill some time and eat. I had a lovely warm welcome from all at Maxwell's, a great falafel & halloumi wrap and was left to read my book in peace. What a thoroughly charming place.

Popped in yesterday for a bite to eat and a drink. I ordered the cheeseburger fries, and my friends ordered the salt & pepper fries. With onion rings and a cheesey flat bread as extra. The food was absolutely amazing. Good portion size, and very well presented. The beer was good, too. Will definitely be back when I'm in Clitheroe, and I would highly recommend it to anyone else.

Nice to see a vegan menu with a lot of options. The food was what you expect for a cafe. Enjoyable and ate the lot. The only thing I didn’t like was the slate it was served on. It’s a bit 2010! And all in all just awkward to navigate with the salad falling off and touching the table. The salad was nice but not cheap for what it was. The service was friendly but slow at parts. The man who served us on 25/4/23 at 3:30pm (dark hair, slim) was the star of the show and gained a star or two. He clocked out at 4pm and we felt forgotten about. It would have been miserable without him. What a legend! We will be back, but not in a rush.

Fabulous vegan menu, the food was delicious had vegan nachos, sweet potato & chick'n curry and onion bhajia baguette, mango chutney and mayo with skinny fries. Would definitely revisit. Service from Phil at front of house was excellent too.

We went to Clitheroe for the day and were pleased to find out it had a castle on a big hill, great views but many steps which brewed up an appetite. Apparently Maxwells Cafe Wine Bar is the place to be and be seen in this town, so we went there. The service was very friendly and fast. They weren't pushy or impatient, they let us order in our own time. The food was great. I went for an halloumi burger which came topped with probably the best onion rings I've ever had. They were crisped to perfection. The burger and fries were also very tasty and I gobbled down the lot. My wife enjoyed what she had and so did the kids. If I ever come back to Clitheroe, I'll make sure I stop by again. Full marks for everything!

Absolutely love coming here, the burgers and all the food I've had here are amazing. Always really friendly customer service, and a generally lovely place at the heart of Clitheroe to come to eat. The cocktails are also great, and there is an outdoor, rooftop bar, which me and my boyfriend love especially during the summer months. Would recommend ! Can't wait to visit again! Best place to eat in Clitheroe!!!

Highly recommended. It is popular and rightly so. Great friendly service ,,superb food and drink reasonably priced. Big portions, be aware , it may be better to share. We ordered the Maxwell club sandwich I can eat but there’s no way I could have tackled it on my own. Decent pint of Peroni in a proper glass £5.50 which for a table sitting in the sun done me fine. Right next to the train station s well. Great sun terrace but you will have to be quick. Will I return. ? Too right I will. !

Had the Bacon beef burger. Think it was called 'Baconeaster Burger.Tasty, dripping in oil. Could have drank the ocean dry after. Sorry, won't rush back. Waiting for food was a tad slow.

Come here every so often with my partner and we really enjoy it the food is lovely and service is great. Only fault this time is we decided to bring our 9 month old for this first time & the high chairs aren’t very supportive for babies as the backs don’t adjust to sit the child up whilst eating & our little one looked very uncomfortable during his meal as he was lay down. Apart from that we absolutely love it here :)

Very friendly and helpful staff, particularly the red haired chap meeting and greeting you (Saturday). Lovely to sit outside under the canopy if sunny or inside if wet. Seating also available on the upstairs balcony. Good selection of snack type food ie. Brie, fig and red onion on ciabatta with balsamic vinegar and rocket dressing

Food & service are very good. But your toilet's are terrible they need attention! They let you down badly.
