We've been going to the Jack & Jill for many years, in fact since it was the Matsfield Arms. Never had a bad meal. When they have them on the menu, the scallops and bacon should not be missed. The roast meal, either lamb or beef, is consistently good.
We went here with family for a meal. The staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble my daughter is vegan and staff were so good finding out which meal she would be able to have. We had such a good time that we booked to go again on Saturday with family *****
Thank you to all the team who were involved in making our wedding reception such a memorable event on June 29th. The room was set up beautifully and the food was superb as always. The waiting staff did an excellent job serving 23 of us promptly and effortlessly and the timings were perfect. All our guests were extremely impressed with the quality of the food. Marc and I are thrilled that we chose the Jack and Jill to celebrate our wedding. We could not have chosen a better place! Can't wait to come and visit again! THANK YOU!!!
If you want traditional, then the jack is the place to go. Don't get many pubs who serve fresh food from scratch anymore. Gorgeous gardens and function room. Was also the venue for my wedding, amazing buffet and looked after very well by the landlord. Even had B&B for my guests. Will always be top of my list for pubs in Sussex.
Fantastic roast beef, and the most amazing warm chocolate brownie and salted caramel ice cream. Great food. Thank you
Only popped in to see our friend. Lovely character and friendly staff. Beautiful setting.
Superb Sunday Roast, very friendly staff, been the same for years. Well worth the 50 min drive for me. Congratulations to the Boss on keeping the standard so high, you are doing a great job. We love it and will continue to return as long as it stays like this.
Once again wonderful Sunday roast dinner served by a great team... Many thanks and we'll be back soon.
A great traditional pub, with incredible home cooked food. Fantastic gardens for the kids and great views of the South Downs. REAL ALES A PLENTY TOO! A hidden gem.
I found this pub/restaurant online so decided to give it a try, we had a family meal there on Saturday night, it's like stepping back into a good old fashioned run pub, great beer, great food, great staff and a lovely atmosphere.
We arrived and the staff were really welcoming, the ales are locally sourced and were really nice, the food, delicious, piping hot and lots of it, the staff attentive and friendly.
I will definitively be back there and have already recommended it to friends.
If we could give 10 stars I would! Visited all the way from London yesterday as for a family reunion and brought our dog along too. The staff were amazing, a young lady in glasses behind the bar was lovely. She filled our dogs water bowl & even offered to clean it for us. Super dog-friendly staff is always a huge plus for us as we have a big dog (Boxer). The food was delicious, it was a very hot day & my disabled mum wasn't able to eat much but they made her a lovely salad eventhough it wasn't on the menu. The atmosphere was great, the staff were fantastic and we had an overall brilliant experience. Would definitely come back again. Thank you for such a great experience.
Lovely nights stay at the Jack and Jill with a nice garden out the back.
Really convenient location for a wedding at Old Pangdean Barn with a local taxi, Also really easy to get too as on a bus route from Burgess Hill and Hassocks
Lunch, all dietary requirements catered for. Super friendly staff, lovely garden, definitely 10 out of 10. I havent stayed so couldn't rate rooms I'm sure they're as good as everything else. Large garden well fenced for kids, good climbing frame/slide.
Wonderful venue for dinner with a large family group including kids - which is challenging at the best of times! There’s a cosy pub interior and an extremely generous garden with seating and a kids play area. Very friendly and helpful staff. Beers were good too - even the weird English room temperature ones!
All round a very strong venue. Recommend you drop by.
First time visiting here and decided to have Roast Dinner. Had the Roast Lamb and it came with all the trimmings, also had Cauliflower Cheese and Parsnips on the side. The dinner was huge, didn’t really need the sides but couldn’t resist, it was freshly cooked and so tasty 😋. The staff are so helpful, friendly and helpful, thank you to you all. Definitely will be coming back here again! A++++++
Lovely pub, been here a couple of times, great beer garden on a sunny day. Visited last Monday, pint was a bit flat but food was really good.
Can't comment on the rooms or food, popped in for a quick drink with a friend on our way home - the bar staff were lovely, informed us a big party were due to arrive soon and had booked out the smaller of their two lovely gardens. As we were on our way out the large party were arriving .. (we were in no rush and had been told about this so no complaints) so was tricky to get back out of the car park .. but just shows its such a popular destination). The blonde manageress (I assume) who's name I didn't get was so friendly and Amy on the bar were such a perfect team! Hope the event went well! Looking forward to coming back next time we are that way!
Just had a lovely sunday roast at The Jack And Jill Inn. Not been here for a while and it is still as good as ever and a lovely pub/restaurant. Will try not to leave it as long next time!
After a 2hr drive popped In for some lunch.food was very nice and arrived very quickly.the only down side was the cutlery was a little dirty staff very friendly.
Only had bagette. Was hoping for jacket potatoes but don't do them. Menu looked good but we were only having light lunch at the time
Had lovely light lunch in this quaint but spacious pub. The menu was very varied, and actually quite mouth watering. There is also a good sized garden. Very friendly lady served us

Visited the Jack and Jill for the first time with family a couple of weeks ago. Friendly service, tasty pub grub, very reasonable prices and a lovely location. We would definitely recommend.
Had a very enjoyable meal, after having an MRI scan at the Amex stadium. Didn't take long to get from one place to the another luckily as the kitchen closes at 8.00PM we had booked 7.30 PM. On paying they got our bill mixed up twice, all ok in the end.
I cannot Coment on the room's, as I wasn't Staying, but Judging by, this place. I would Hazard a guess at Very Good. I have read some of the reviews and I'm Baffled. The Ale, was in 1st class Condition and I opted for a Ham, Salad Baguette, these are Superb. A Baguette, for all Baguettes, to kneel and weep Too.
After doing the South Downs hike This cosy pub was exactly what we needed. The food was delicious and the service was great.
