Highly recommend the beef rib. Didn't read the menu properly, got overexcited when I saw the word 'rib' and ordered it with slaw and fries instead of mash and veg, but this was no mistake and this was no ordinary rib! Little pricey but well worth it, possibly best and most perfectly prepared piece of beef I've ever eaten, and the bone kept my super-exciteable terrier quiet for the rest of our visit.
A great friendly pub, with a French touch when it comes to what really matter: proper food and good wine! Relaxed atmosphere with young and welcoming staff. The sort of pub you go for a quick pint and end up staying all evening meeting friends and enjoying your time. Highly recommended landmark in Claygate Surrey.
What an amazing pub. The Sunday roast was so good, friendly staff couldn't of asked for more, we will defo be back. Huge bonus that we can take our pup with us.
Lovely little pub, very friendly staff and very dog friendly too. Good food and a nice selection of ales.
A neighborhood gem! Whenever I visit my family in Claygate, it's like visiting an old friend and catching up. Good food, cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.
Been for a meal in restaurant a few times now and each time had a very enjoyable time . I had scallops for starters then Moroccan lamb cutlets my family had soup , snails and the pate . And Turkeys and steak . All delicious . Very good service . Food in bar area if you want but quieter in restaurant .
Fantastic place for a family meal. Excellent service, very good food and a really great location.
Nice pub with great outdoor area for families & a separate area for children which looked great. Plenty of staff behind the bar. All very polite & helpful
Had a really nice meal here today, (Lamb Sunday roast followed by spotted dick with ice cream) service was excellent, food great and the manager (I assume) went out of his way to help and accommodate us.
Would highly recommend booking as it was very busy but worth while!
Thank you Nick and staff for a wonderful lunch! 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 as always!
Came with some friends for a meal for a Birthday. Lovely food, very reasonable in a beautiful surrounding. Would travel again to come back here.
Excellent food and excellent service. Great staff, always smiling and eager to please.
Stooped by The Hare and Hounds for a quick bite and pint after returning from Richmond Park for a stroll. Very pleasantly surprised by the quality and speed of service in the food department. So well cooked, just like your mums roast potatoes. The price is misleading. It seems a bit cheap for the quality! Not every day you can say that! Well worth a punt if your in the area.
We had a really lovely experience here after some very hit and misses (more commonly misses) in the surrounding area while staying here for a week. The lady that served us was French and brought with her that air of hospitality as a career rather than a job that continental Europeans have that makes for really nice service. Efficient, polite and warm but unobtrusive. We hadn’t booked but were seated easily although it was a fairly busy Thursday night. Lots of outdoor and indoor seating available and a kids play park. I was so so happy to see the menu. A few carefully curated items rather than a huge menu (which I always avoid where possible as you just know it’s either done badly or isn’t fresh). I was surprised to notice that despite the appealing choices on the menu, literally everyone around us seemed to be eating burgers or fish and chips! Each to their own I suppose but I had the confit duck, my husband the lamb cutlets and his father the mussels. We all thought our food was incredibly tasty and were so happy we went on and had puddings which were also yummy. We would definitely be regulars if we lived in the area highly recommend!
Myself and my daughter popped in to The Hare and Hounds for a Sunday roast last week. The food was absolutely spot on, perfect portions.
The service was excellent ,
the staff were pleasant and accommodating,
Well worth a visit,5 stars thoroughly deserved 👍👍
Great pub for the whole family. Quality food and friendly staff. Nick and his team really look after us every time we go. Highly Recommended
With great food, excellent service, child friendly garden (as well as more adult focused outside spaces), regular live bands and plenty of indoor space (including a great 'private' room), The Hare and Hounds is the perfect village pub for meeting family and friends!
Lovely pub with a great atmosphere and staff. Food has never disappointed in all the many visits I have made over the years. Would go back anytime.
Bar staff are wonderful. The food came quickly and was lovely and hot. Croque monsieur is my favourite and always comes with a nice salad and chips.
This is a little gem of a pub, lovely atmosphere with absolutely devine food for the price. Me and my wife visited for lunch with our new born baby, I had beef bourguignon from the specials and my wife had duck breast, both meals tasted fabulous. Also the Sunday lunch is the best around by far!!!
Saturday lunch in the area at the front of the pub. Lots of shade available if needed. Friendly service and great food. The chicken burger was one of the best I have ever had.
Pretty standard pub lunch. Decent food - caters well to gluten free (except for fries). Nothing really special but equally nothing bad!
Nice Sunday Roast, good size servings.
Great pub that has not changed much in 30 years, except it looks like they serve excellent food - but did not have time for that. Relaxing with a very large covered front and uncovered rear garden.
Welcoming and friendly under Covid conditions. Registering your details and even ordering drinks and food is all done via their website. You pay online too and it's all brought to your table. A little clunky, but it works. Small menu, but food was decent pub quality
Great food, friendly atmosphere, efficient service! Can't ask for more!
I've been here a few times after work and I think this is a lovely pub. It's got great facilities such as: outdoor gazebo with heaters, kids area, resturant area, great lighting and most importantly - great beer on tap with chilled glasses at the ready!
It's a nice place to chill out and the folk running the pub are very warm and welcoming. They seem to have good deals with drinks and the prices in general are very good 👍
If you are walking you dogs nearby and fancy something to warm you up, they seem very welcoming of dogs and provide water too - nice touch!
I must try eating here some day as I'm sure the food will be of a high standard, just like the establishment
I organise a neighbourhood lunch five or six times a year. The number of people average 18 to 24. I have tried 2 or 3 different venues which have been disappointing. Today we went to the Hare and Hounds and had excellent food and a fairly short waiting time. I could not ask for more and congratulate the owners for excellent and professional service.

Lovely pub with outdoor seating sheltered from the rain.. popped in with a friend for a swift drink on a Friday night, was lively with friendly staff. Will return to try the dining out soon.
