Friendly welcome and service.
Choice at carvery was good but beef was dry, gravy had not been topped up and cranberry sauce pot was empty (I did ask for more but it didn't arrive). A good range of vegetables.
Our waitress was polite and helpful.
The food was lovely and very well priced. Same goes for the drinks. Our waitress Rachel was great. She was very attentive with quick service. Very polite and friendly leaving us with a smile on our faces as we were walking out.
We had a lovely meal at the Smugglers Cove. I ordered from the menu and my wife had the carvery. The food was excellent we really liked the fact the waitress told me my food was nearly ready which gave my wife time to go and get her carvery. Our waiters were very informative and friendly.
Very welcoming & quick to take our order. We all had a regular carvery which had a good choice of meats & vegetables. The only problem was the beef was not as tender as it normally is. A bit disappointed with that but overall a pleasant experience.
Table staff were very pleasant. We had the carvery - the roast potatoes were very hard on the outside, unchewable & the stuffing was dry.
No choice of bitters, only your own which I don't like.

Nice modern pub, we went mid week so was not that busy.Never had to call the staff over for more drinks orders which was good as they did the rounds every 25-30mins.
Only reason i gave 3 stars for food is due to the menu options, lacking vegan mains, starters have a good selection, but offering a vegan burger would be nice and another option would have got 5 stars. The food quality was great however.
Table was ready even though we were a little early. Our server explained the menu options and took our drinks orders straight away. Food was delivered quickly was hot and very tasty. The only negative is that the furniture is showing signs of age and is a little shabby.
The service provided by Callum was top notch. Despite it being busy, he remained calm, polite and made everything appear effortless and made us feel valued as customers. Food was delicious and plentiful so thank you to your chef and all staff who obviously worked together as a Team.
Table ready. Served quite quickly. Waitress turned table round for us as too far from static seating. Needed cleaning though as the back hadn’t been cleaned. Very obliging. Place clean and tidy.
FOOD. Carvery. Could have been hotter, but this always happens with carveries as they put so much out at once. The beef was lovely and tender this time. Very tough the last visit.
Your staff were very welcoming, we were served by Maisie who was lovely.
Enjoyed the carvery meat and all.the veg with exception of the roasted veg, they were very hard.
I would definitely eat there again.
Arrived 5 minutes before 2pm booking was immediately shown to our table, a waiter came over and took our drinks order while we pondered over the well thought out and not overly complicated menu, he left us for a while then came back to take our food order, he was very presentable and polite throughout. The food was beautifully presented and cooked to my taste and I said to our waiter to tell the chef just how much I enjoyed the main meal of southern fried hunters chicken for me and my guest said she thoroughly enjoyed the steak and ale pie. The desserts that followed were equally as enjoyable. For certain we’ll be back.
We had the carvery for lunch which was lovely, we were looked after very well by Maisie who was very good and had a lovely personality which made our lunchtime really enjoyable. We also had food later on in the evening, just a few starters to share. Unfortunately the ribs that we ordered had little to no meat on them but this was rectified by the manager with no fuss at all. Overall, our visit and stay at the hotel was very pleasant, with a lovely cooked breakfast to finish with. Thanks again, Jason Cole and Leigh Wickham.
The server was excellent she made the experience and without her I'm sure there would be more complaints. The oil that the chips had been cooked in was very old and the chips tasted awful. The chicken was really dry and peas like bullets but the rest of the food was good.
Hopefully was just a bad day will return and see how the food is next time.
