Outstanding food. Lovely setting. Friendly helpful staff would definitely recommend and will be visiting again thank you for a lovely evening.
Have seen this place driving/walking past most days but never been in until today. Restaurant was quiet as it was the end of the Bank Holiday weekend but the food was wonderful and service was very good.
Highly recommend.
First time for me and mum and we had a wonderful meal, more than willing to swap items on the dish to accommodate the ever ongoing diet, and service flawless. Definitely going back soon.

went there Friday night ...very very impressed ....had a great rib-eye on the stone and missus had sirloin ...both fantastic ...staff were brilliant and extremely helpful ...and Tom our waiter was superb ...10 out of 10

Came again the following night because we loved it. Great experience for 3 adults and 3 children 9, 8 & 7. My 9 year old asked for steak served on a lava stone. When it came to the table, the waiter could clearly tell we had NO idea what to do so offered to show us how to cut and manoeuvre the steak to cook to my daughter's preference. I was very relieved to have his help and my daughter spotted him offering the same service to neighbouring tables. I will upload photos of the food; steak, fish, nuggets, mac & cheese, calypso coffee, desserts.
First time we’ve eaten at this restaurant and I can state with full confidence one of the nicest meals we’ve had. Holly our server was highly efficient and attentive. We both had fillet on the stone which comes with an array of sauces, which could be changed with no issue, price was reasonable for what you get and we left feeling full and satisfied. We will be back!!
I’ve been in a few times and the food has been consistently amazing! So far i’ve tried the ribeye and sirloin on the stone - both absolutely delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cosy, welcoming and romantic for date nights! Many thanks to all the black rock staff!
Popped in on recommendation and so glad we did. What a hidden little gem. The food was all delicious, steaks cooked perfectly and service was excellent. Highly recommend the steak bites, Philly cheese sandwich and double stack burger. Great value for money.
Well wot can I say , the best restaurant in clacton the steak on the stone was amazing, and my daughter-in -law salmon omg ,, definitely recommend this restaurant, thank you black rock ,,
Great little find. Had a fillet steak cooked rare with all the trimmings & a bottle of recommended red wine to wash it down with. It was cooked to perfection. Best steak we’ve had for years (cocktails were fantastic as well). Very friendly & welcoming staff. Would highly recommend
Not disappointed wow the food is out of this world went for my wife's birthday. Our starters of garlic mushrooms and sticky steak bites were lush, we both had steak on the stone, steak was melt in the mouth I especially liked the blue cheese sauce 😋. Our waitress Holly was great attentive without being overbearing (makes a change nowadays) we will definitely come back next time we are in the area.
Lovely restaurant with really high quality food and very friendly professional service. Our server Adam was knowledgeable and friendly and made it a very enjoyable evening. Knocked off one star as the restaurant doesn’t serve custard to go with the sticky toffee pudding
First time coming here , had a very nice burger and the chips were really nice thick cut ones , will visit again
Came here to eat with friends for a birthday, service was excellent and so friendly. Food was 10/10. We had the steak on the stones and it didn’t disappoint!! Cocktails were lovely! Freshly made. Highly recommend this place.
Took the whole family all 13 of us, including 2 x 3yr old, they catered for us all amazingly, starters, mains, kids choice, cocktails, sides the lot, Steak & salmon on the rock is definitely the favourite dishes of the day, they even put up with the noise of families talking over one another. We really enjoyed our time. I often come here & have NEVER had a bad experience. Black Rock comes highly recommended.
The first restaurant in Clacton where you can enjoy the best food..steaks and in aircon on relax with very friendly staff. We will be back there, definitely!?
I've been here twice now in 2 weeks and both times has been a really enjoyable experience! The first time as table of 4, tonight as a table of 7. The staff were friendly and very attentive, even though it was busy, the food was delicious! Thankyou to all the staff for a lovely dining experience!
Food was great. Recommend steak bites and black rock burger. Service was really good, very friendly and inviting. Restaurant itself had an amazing atmosphere. 100% returning in the future!

Our table was booked for the same time as the restaurant opened at 4PM - the open sign was just being turned around & our server immediately greeted us and showed us to our table.
No wobbly table which was a welcome change to my usual experience eating out! Background music was sensible level - everywhere was very clean, tidy and well maintained.
Service was attentive but not overbearing, menu selection was centered around steaks - but with plenty of other options including a couple of vegetarian dishes.
We only ordered mains, which took a little while to arrive but not an excessive wait. I had the Black Rock burger with loads of hot & crisp sweet potato fries! The only very minor complaint is the bacon fat was left on making some bites of the burger a bit chewy/stringy!
My sister had the pulled pork "sandwich" which was more of a baguette cut into 3 - quite a large meal with the fries as well! Hot, tasty and we'll prepared.
Would definitely come again & recommend to others - 4PM a great time to come if you like your dining experience personal & quiet as I do - but perhaps come a bit later if you want more of an ambience.
Pricey but good, food was presented really well and the staff was super speedy, decor was interesting with some random frames around. Steak was cooked well and everything was super tasty
Had the bruschetta starter and all had different steaks on the lava stone. Well, one of the best restaurants I have ever been to and I've been to a good few. Service excellent, cocktails to due for and the food is lovely. Will definitely be back.
