A pleasant surprise! I've not been here for quite a while and it has vastly improved since my last visit. The service was friendly, welcoming, I'd go so far to say fun and banter full! The food was excellently presented and it tasted good too. I will be back.

What a wonderful welcome received by front of house. The food was simply lovely fantastic quality home made food, full of flavour (sorry it was eaten before I could photograph them) Our waitress Bibi was amazing happy, friendly and quite funny, attending to all our needs. 5 of the party had the Sunday lunch, the 2 children had the large children’s scampi and chips, chicken nuggets and chips. The whole party enjoyed there meals. Would 100% recommend to eat here. Oh and it’s gluten and dog friendly what’s not to love.

Had a Sunday roast at the Pub with my wife. It was our first time visiting and we were very impressed. Drinks came quickly, and staff were helpful. The roast came out very quickly, we really enjoyed it, everything on the plate was tasty and not over cooked. Added to that some super tasty gravy we were happy. I would recommend it to anyone in the area.

We come to Devon often to visit family. We've been here a few times to eat and have always been pleased with the food. We tried the Sunday roast today and we're so glad we did. It was wonderful. I had the belly pork and hubby had the beef. The standard of food in this part of the world is generally very good but I have to say this roast was one of the nicest I've had. Couldn't fault anything. Also the staff are very smartly dressed and so friendly. The whole place appears to be very well organised and run to a very high standard. We'll done to them all!!

As we are new to Devon, the pub was easy to find and had decent parking with extra parking at the back. When we got in, the atmosphere was perfect with lots of gold fairy lights, which made the place look warm and cosy. The staff were brilliant with getting us to our seats as it was right by the door, and they were very welcoming. The service was amazing as we ordered food, and it came within 5 minutes, which was incredible. They were very understanding when it came to the food as my mum was having a few issues, to the point where they offered to take her dish off the bill, which was very surprising and kind. Now, here is the negative side, sadly. The fish pie was very salty, to the point where I could smell it from opposite the table. Thankfully we could taste the fish but the salt was just very overbearing. Next the barbecue pizza was very strong with barbecue but decent otherwise with the size and taste. Lastly, the margherita pizza was strong with tomato sauce and quite oily with the mozzarella cheese to the point where I could only eat half of it. Overall the place itself was really nice and had very good staff, but those meals could be worked on a little. It might just be because we aren't from around here though.

Amazing Sunday lunch Lovely little quaint country pub. Great experience from start to finish, seated quickly, drink and food order was taken in good time. Sunday lunch was a very good size and the Yorkshire puddings were huge. Meat, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings arrived on the plate, then the vegetables are served in separate bowls, we had cabbage, swede, carrots and cauliflower cheese, along with extra gravy. There is a choice of beef, pork or chicken, along with a vegetarian option. Great choice of puddings also. All the staff are very friendly, polite and attentive. We booked in advance and I would definitely recommend doing this, as it was very busy and the only tables that were available were the benches outside. Definitely recommend coming here for Sunday lunch, if you are staying in or around the area. Huge outdoor space, with under cover booths and pub tables. Small children's play park, along with a small area, with goats, chickens and cockerels. Plenty of parking around the back.

Visited on Saturday 4th November - a party of four. The staff were very friendly and we were quite impressed with the uniform of white shirts and rather snazzy braces!! The food was delicious - we were all pleased with our choices. The manager, Paul Webber was an excellent host checking several times if there was anything we needed. He was pleasant and had a good sense of humour. We will definitely be returning and would recommend The Claycutters Arms to anyone. Thank you for looking after us Paul...
