I had a lovely weekend in this familiar and warm place: The White Hart stands on a quite corner before Castle Combe's wood, and it's exactly what I was looking for to spend a couple of days out of London. My room was clean and well designed. Finally I ate the best fish and chips in Uk, absolutely FRESH and delicious. I also ate their tasty sausage and mash and I can say The White Hart kitchen is excellent as the service.
We came here for dinner after a long drive from London. We were welcomed in and all the staff were so friendly. It was cosy and had all the charm of a local pub whilst also feeling up market. The food was great, highlights were the soup, sausage and mash and the game pie - delicious!
We’re not in the area very often but we will definitely be coming back!
Our third visit within three weeks. We have had lunch and also an evening meal and have been looked after at table by Josh and Costel who are very proficient. The food has been excellent on these three occasions. The Sausage and mash was the best I have tasted in a long while. The extra two bacon rashers on top of the sausages was a surprise and a delight.
Popped in for lunch after a local walk. Lovely setting with great beer garden next to a stream. Pub is finished to a very high standard, service was good. Had the scotch egg and sandwich - bread was a little dry and scotch egg coating a little under cooked. Unfortunately this upset my stomach overnight. I assume it was just unfortunate.
What a gem of a place. Newly re-opened. We had two lovely meals here on a Friday and Saturday evening. Service was great, food was great. Lovely setting with plenty of outside space too. Dog friendly. Would recommend booking. Don’t confuse this place for The White Hart in Castle Combe as we also went there and there is no comparison!!
Wonderful pub, we didn’t eat (just drinks) but the food and the menu looked excellent so we will return. There are some lovely country walks in the area so this pub serves as a fitting reward after all that effort.
Love this place, beautiful building, bar and restaurant. Great food, lovely staff (although occasionally their conversation is more important than serving you it seems). It’s a bit pricey, we paid £200 including £25 tip for 5 soft drinks, 3 starters, 5 mains & 4 desserts but in such gorgeous surroundings it’s worth it.
Really lovely pub - gorgeous garden with a river running through, enjoyable food too! Its quite a big pub so can be hard to get staff's attention but all the staff are very lovely and helpful. We've come here several times over the years and have found it consistently good!
Love this pub, lovely quiet location. Homely feel.
Walked down with a friend for drinks and dinner.
Good selection of drinks and I'm especially fond of neck oil, fortunately this place serves the nicest I've had.
Luke the bar tender for the evening was attentive, open and sociable and knows how to make a drink, the old fasioned and espresso martini were top class. The rest of the staff that evening were also great (26th Oct),
Dinner is always good here but this time round none of the mains weren't overly inspiring. Young's have to offer there pub classics but there wasn't much beyond them that inspired an order so we had a variety of starters. The camembert was lovely, as was the calamari and it was nice to have a well spiced sweet chilli sauce, although the chicken liver pate was nice, could have done with a smidge more on the plate.
We had the cheeseboard too, though, this was the only slightly disappointing part of our meal. For £15 I felt a little shorted on the cheese and crackers front. 6 crackers, all of one type and 2 cheeses, a brie and a cheddar which were both on the small side. I was really hoping for a stilton and maybe a little goats cheese and a selection of cheese vessels (crackers).
The cheese board was the reason for the dropped star.
All in all, a great pub, atmosphere and staff.
Highly recommend for any occasion.
First went in before Christmas as a stop-off on a walk and was very impressed with the aesthetics of the venue and the friendliness of the staff; I also snuck a look at thr Christmas menu and thought then it would be worth coming back sometime. Fast forward to now, and we took my parents there for a meal! Booking was easy via the website and service was lovely; they even turned the music down for us as I struggle to hear clearly and we were sat near a speaker. Food was amazing and portions were huge - don't be put off by the prices, you get more than what you pay for!
We were meeting our Grandson’s for lunch. We made a later booking because one was travelling from Sheffield, on the way he got held up in traffic. It wasn’t a problem that we had to wait. The staff were very friendly, and helpful letting us just sit at the table with drinks, and a couple of to share dishes. When our Grandsons arrived, and we ordered our meal it was amazing and so much, we all loved whatever we ordered. Amazing venue, staff, and food.
Went for a Sunday roast. The staff and location were great. Food was amazing too. With the exception of the roast potatoes. Tasted like they had been hanging around a while. Would definitely go back though
Great lunch stop after a walk from Castle Combe. Josh was fantastic. Plant burger and chips were delish. Perfect, cosy atmosphere.
