We love this place, it’s one of the best pubs in Surrey for the food, the surroundings and the gardens for eating with friends, family and kids. They have a great garden with a climbing frame but also a big grass area for kids to play. The outdoor tables are set up well to face this area so mums and Dads can eat, drink and watch the kids. The food is very good, especially the meat. Only downside is there often aren’t enough bar staff working to get served and the small number working can get grumpy (because they’re clearly overworked!) but that’s a small gripe. It’s the perfect place on a sunny day !
Absolutely love this place! The food is fabulous and portion sizes are very generous for the price. The staff are always very polite and always on their toes to make sure we are looked after. I come here often with my other half as a casual night out together but we invited family to dine with us here as a new year treat and they couldn’t fault it at all, my mother being a vegetarian found the menu was not limited at all in what she could include as sides and loved the portobello mushroom burger. We will certainly be back to see you soon!
Return visit & will return again, excellent room spacious & so comfortable. The available choice for breakfast was superb & so tasty. Our Daughters came for evening meal (their request) as they food & service is excellent. We will be back very soon, visit our daughter regularly & the Percy Arms is by far the best place we’ve stayed in area
We had lunch here today and loved it. Great menu, lovely quality ingredients, great service and a lovely atmosphere. We highly recommend this place and will be back. We also appreciate that the pub is dog friendly.
Fantastic place with great staff and amazing food. Something for everyone. Especially cosy last night with the wood burners going full pelt. So lucky this place is our local
Was at the Percy Arms yesterday for lunch.
Food was amazing and service excellent.
The only thing that disappointed me was the two hour slot you get at busy times. That isn’t really enough time to enjoy a nice meal. We could have eaten in the bar area and no time limit but thought as a Birthday meal we would go into the restaurant. When our two hours were up we were asked to leave and the staff were resetting the table around us. We were told we could go into the bar for a drink but it was heaving and no room in the inn so we left.
I would love to go back but not sure about the two hour rule.
Great authentic South African food and pub classics on the menu. Attentive and friendly service. Fitted us in on a busy day. Really good find after a walk.
We went to The Percy Arms yesterday afternoon for their carvery and cannot praise the service received enough. We were early having booked a table and we were greeted by a lovely lady who couldn't have made us feel more welcome, she was lovely and even arranged for our table to be ready earlier than the booked time. The Carvery was amazing, so delicious and such good value for money. The deserts were out of this world. I thoroughly recommend and I can assure you, you won't be disappointed 😃
Great range and quality food selection and served by pleasant staff. Good kids play area in view of outdoor dining area. Special mention to Rose our waitress.
I'd love to say it's horrible so the place isn't as busy, but I can't, the Sunday lunch is absolutely wonderful and well worth the visit. Cheers, Mark.
Had an amazing NYE at the pub, excellent food and drink. The fireworks were brilliant and really topped off a great night. We love coming to the pub for food and drink and safe to say NYE will be spent there again.
What a charm of a place, such a delightful place. Oozes South Africa! Love it!
We had a family celebration for 24 here during a really busy Sunday service. Our dedicated waiter ensured we had everything we wanted. The food, some from the carvery, some from the a la carte menu, was all delicious. The children loved the play area after we had eaten. We had room 2 for the night which was clean and comfortable. We anticipated some noise from the diners below but didn't hear a thing except a small amount of traffic. Definitely worth the trip from Devon!
We stopped off for the Sunday carvery. I don’t think I’ve tasted nicer beef - it was lovely! We also enjoyed sitting outside in the beer garden, away from the busy restaurant inside. Good value for the quality of food we received. Recommended as a great place to get your Sunday roast. Staff were also very nice.
The BEST carvery in Surrey, the food is just amazing - very generous portions, incredible amount of choice and the venison stew is unreal! This really is great value for money in a lovely setting, with very accommodating staff. 10/10🌟
Lovely boutique hotel tucked away in the country. Beautiful room with a roll top bath. Perfect location for visiting the Silent pool gin distillery down the road.
Breakfast was also very tasty.
This review is for the restaurant only.
Have been here quite a few times. This particular visit was at the end of August for a business meal. It was so good that I had another business meal there the following evening.
The pub is beautiful. Bought and run by South Africans, you're getting the SA way of doing steak and barbecue. It's absolutely stellar. The steak is aged on the premises for 45 days. As part of the ordering experience you get to see the cuts of beef and select what you want. Good opportunity for them to upsell and we accepted nearly every suggestion. :-)
We ordered 750g of Porterhouse steak with half a rack of ribs. Garden salad on the side to make us feel like we were being healthy, and broccolini. I say that about the salad because we didn't eat much of it. And, to be honest, that was the only slight downside about the food as it didn't seem as fresh as all the other ingredients. Maybe we are the only people that ordered it. You come here for steak, after all. Speaking of which, the steak was done medium rare. You can see from the pictures how it came out. Absolutely mouth melting. The ribs were a fantastic combo and the fries...well, can't go wrong with fries.
The service was friendly, attentive and punctual. We were never rushed from the table. The Percy Arms is an incredible steak and barbecue restaurant set in an idyllic location without the London prices. And it's better than many steak houses I've been to in London. Highly recommended.
Had an amazing time. Excellent and attentive staff. Food was really good especially if you looking for some traditional South African cuisine. Rump steak was cooked to perfection and the best monkey gland sauce I have ever had.
Fantastic pub! Superb service and just beautiful food. Naren, who served us was lovely, especially with our 4 year old Daughter. We live in Suffolk but we will definitely visit again!
Visited for a family Sunday lunch with three OAPs.
Beautifully fitted out interior, cool and stylish with lots of tables yet plenty of space. Carvery was outstanding - lots of choice and plentiful portions. Staff were extremely helpful in accommodating elderly people with poor mobility. Service was faultless. Price for five people came in under £100 - very good value; we did not drink alcohol but all left happily fed.
Recommend - we will certainly return.
Excellent gastro pub , wonderful atmosphere, and a good varied menu to choose from. Also some dishes with a South African flavour. Great terrace outside partially covered , and a garden area too . Very helpful staff, they even offered me a sample of the drink I chose to make sure it what I was expecting, never experienced this level of service before. And the food is so well prepared, they really do know how to serve a wonderful meal. We had a great birthday celebration there. Highly recommended. Ja no well fine!
32 of us ate at The Percy Arms last Saturday, 16th September, at a special event. The manager was exceptionally considerate when we were late due to two members of the party suffering from heat exhaustion, telling us to relax as we were his guests. The staff were very efficient and the food was wonderful. I can’t praise the experience enough, and wish I didn’t live 200 miles away so that I could eat there more often
The bobotie and steak for dinner were awesome!
Full english breakfast wasn't great - beans came out stone cold, and didn't come with any toast (had to ask for that separately)
Dinner was 5 star, breakfast was 3.
Fantastic food coupled with superb service, all wrapped up in a dog-friendly bow. Visited here a few times already and figured I should probably leave a review and I plan to return. Perfect place to catch up with friends over some good quality food.
Review of the Restaurant and Bar, for an outdoor event in the marquee/tent.
Narem and the team looked after our group of 70+ adults, children and dogs in the garden last Saturday. We couldn't have asked for better service with very regular check-ins, waiting staff clearing up pre- and during the event, and prompt delivery of food & drinks ordered.
The area is perfect for large gatherings and is near the playground, within a fenced garden so is great for events with dogs and kids so you can keep an eye on them all!
Thank you again, we shall be back I hope
JB
Was there for the Tuesday Stake night.
Absolutely brilliant the rump Stake was delicious and my first time having the Monkey grand source and it was full of flavour. Very friendly staff and great service
Beautiful pub with exceptional service and food. Naren liked after us brilliantly and was a wonderful hostz Can highly recommend the South African dishes. The lamb was delicious! They were fantastic with our kids too and the playground is perfect to allow parents a bit of peace and quiet.
Good food, nice environment and friendly service. Quite pricey but it is in rural Surrey! We went for a large family meal, good selection of dishes for a variety of appetites.
