Lovely country pub that is dog friendly. We stopped off for food on the way back from Essex and were so happy to find this little gem. The staff are so friendly and even though there was a mix up with our food order it all got sorted and our meal was absolutely delicious. If you are ever in the area don't hesitate to visit The Black Dog 👍 P. S the choice of real ales was also great.

We visited the pub recently with four dogs and they were very accommodating putting us in a separate room. The food was amazing, some of the most delicious pub food and well priced. The service was ok, not super friendly but still good, the atmosphere was quite lacking which was surprising for a Saturday lunchtime but I’d visit again

I'm sad to say that if you don't already know this village pub will be shut now. It has been shut since 13th October 2023 and know one knows when it is next going to be open. Thanking all the lovely staff for their time. Thanks

Very accommodating - had a lovely private room for our two families, which was perfect. Food was nice, although I was disappointed with the chickpea curry and the dessert was a little strange but everyone else really enjoyed their meals. Staff were very friendly, we had a hiccup with a missing dish but they rushed through a replacement really fast.

Visited the pub with friends last night and had an amazing meal. The food is exceptional!. The Black Dog burger was truly the best burger I've ever had!. All our meals were beautifully presented, and very large portions!. The service was excellent, and staff very friendly and attentive. So lucky to have this gem of a pub close by, and can't wait to return and try the Sunday roast!.

Chilmark's local pub. Very nice pub food with friendly staff. Fairly quiet last time we went, but it was mid-week. Hope it can manage to stay afloat in these challenging times.

Fantastic food and service. Real home cooked food freshly prepared. I like the fact that the menu is not enormous but varied enough to suit everyone. Close attention is given to everything and the chips where amazing, crisp on the outside soft and fluffy in the middle! Cosy atmosphere and good choice of drinks. I would highly recommend it.

We had a lovely evening meal, my wife had the haddock and chips which she commented on was amazing. I had the steak which was lovely, cooked perfectly and my teenage son devoured a home made beef keema curry with all the trimmings. Service was great, staff friendly and welcoming. Thank you to James (manager & chef) and his staff, we will be back soon.

Stopped off on our journey and what a delight. Lovely service, football for the kids big and small, food delicious. We had a little wait but the staff were extremely apologetic but we didn't really even notice as we were so chilled there. Def a great place for dogs too. Thanks Black Dog Inn, good luck with the rest of the season 👍

This an old styled country pub. The choice of beer was good and the wine choices excellent. The bar staff were friendly and helpful. Sat outside on what looks like new furniture. Try and find Polly's grave! Highly recommended.

Having never been here before we relied on other reviews when we took the chance and booked it. Despite being a little short staffed on Sunday the lady on the bar (who was also rushing round taking food orders and serving food) was friendly and welcoming. In fact, all the staff we saw were friendly and treated us like regulars even though it was our first visit. The food arrived in a timely manner and was really tasty. There were four of us eating and we had 3 different dishes. They all arrived together and were all hot and looked freshly cooked. We'd definitely recommend and if we are ever back in that area would not hesitate in going back (just a shame it's not closer to home or we'd be there very often). The only thing which could have been improved was possibly the garden which is located across the car park, and was a little 'unloved' and not necessarily the best we've seen, but that's being ultra critical.

We were just passing on a Sunday lunchtime. Called in on the off-chance that we could have dinner. Although it was busy, we were accommodated without any fuss and we had a yummy roast dinner for 3. There is a good range of real ales. Friendly and attentive bar staff and a lovely traditional old pub feel to the place. Top marks!
