We stopped here for lunch as it is conveniently within a mile or so of the M4 but located in a small village away from the hubbub of the motorway Easy parking outside the front door. Pleasant bar area and staff with a reasonably priced menu of lunchtime meals. Service was quick and food arrived quickly. We enjoyed the political cartoons in the toilets. Great alternative to the motorway services area

Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. I missed out on ordering food as I arrived too late, but they actually knocked up a couple of plates of Yorkshire puddings to snack on for free, great touch! Would definitely visit again.

This is for the pub/dining experience; I didn't stay in the hotel. Absolutely great spot to avoid service stations just off the M4 west of Reading. Food was cheap and cheerful and staff friendly. Will come again if I need a break from the M4.

We stopped here for lunch just off the M4. I ordered the steak and mushroom pie with veggies, the meat melted in my mouth and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Couldn’t fault it!

Stopped for a lunch on the way to Somerset. Lovely pub and garden. Food was lovely and very good value. Surprised there were 2 teabags in a pot for one, always a bonus. Would certainly visit again and recommend. Thankyou

Got caught out by a puncture on my car and the staff & owners couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating, ended up having dinner in the pub and paying for a room, both excellent. Thanks again. Andy

Just a couple of minutes from M4 J13, this was a lovely lunch stop on a long journey. Big screen showing the football with nice food, friendly atmosphere and warm welcome. Would recommend.

This is small English guest house with real local pub. Highly recommend for anyone who would like to experience English hospitality with authentic cousin.

Tasty lunch, with friendly service in a pub that's close-but-not-too-close to the M4. A welcome break, in the English countryside, from the hurly-burly of the M4 (and much more reasonably priced than the over-processed motorway services' food).

Very pleasant pub with good food. Very personable staff and landlord. Parking can be at a premium at busy times (don't forget the parking area opposite but that can fill up) so err on the side of early. Not sure if there's a garden but outside tables at front

Friendly pub, food, good range of beer, child and dog friendly. Eat in or sit in the cute outdoor space . Live music outside on the Saturday evening we visited. Free car park for patrons..

Extensive food choices. Very satisfied with my brie and bacon ciabatta with chunky chips and salad on the side. The service was really good too. The refurb has really made a positive difference and the WC was cleaned to a high standard 👌

We went for a mid week meal and were pleasantly surprised. Having been there a few times under the old ownership we were hoping for a similar quality. We were not disappointed, a food beer (Arkels) selection a decent wine list (plenty of by the glass options) and a small but nice meal selection. The whitebait starters are good, the rump steak was very good, the chickpea burger was a bit dry (I never have this so maybe it's normal) the Thai curry good. The baileys creme brulee very nice. Drinks and dinner for 4 £160 well pleased.
