We have passed the clockhouse on numerous occasions and always thought 'what a lovely looking pub' we finally got the opportunity to go in and have a meal, well what can I say except WOW, There was no faulting this place at all, from the greeting to the fairwell everything was fab. The landlord took the time not only to greet everyone of us but kept the place open just so we could eat. The food was amazing not a morsal left on the plates (15 of us) the chef done a fantastic job with all the different orders. Would we go back? Oh yes every time we pass we will be paying a visit. Or even if we just fancy going for a trip out for lunch then thats the place we will be visiting. Fabulous 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

This has to be one of the worlds best pubs! The landlords are the most welcoming people and it really is a must visit even if it's a quick drink in the afternoon! But you would be silly to skip on the amazing food to!

Wrote a review just now..posted it but it seems to have disappeared.....anyway....a family get-together of nearly thirty people.....Mike and his team did a wonderful job in the preparation of the room for us....tables well presented.....the staff very good and the meal excellent....and the Guinness was pretty good as well!!!!! A special family day that was made a little bit more special. Hope we can enjoy a meal there in the not too distant future. Well done to all of you at the Clock...Chideock.

I thought I'd been in an episode of Man vs food.. great fish and chips. Biggest portion of fish I've ever eaten. Great meal. Service was excellent. Great atmosphere. Kids enjoyed the whole evening. Glad to see the clock up and running once again.

Lovely meal and atmosphere, with friendly staff who went out of their way to chat to our children. I ordered the vegetarian lasagne (even though I'm not a vegetarian) as saw it being bought to another table and it looked delicious - and it was!! Our favourite meal out whilst we were away!

Great village pub with friendly staff, great local beer and good food. What more could you want from a pub? When I heard about the fire in 2015, I could not imagine what it was like to lose everything... your home, your livelihood, your possessions, but to say on the first day that you would be back and to achieve just that is a testament to the strength and determination of your family and the support of all involved to get the pub back up and running, preserving a great British tradition and serving not just the local community, but making visitors from far and wide very welcome. Top pub!

I love this pub. Best judgement on any pub is sitting in there on a weekday afternoon and just being comfortable. Don't need gimmicks, don't even need company, but just need to feel at peace, clean, tidy, foods good, beer must have been good, I sunk a few :) May not get back to Chid, again, but if I do, The Clock will be 1 of my very first ports of call. Wonderful place. Have a great year, be happy. x

For a local thatched roof pub it’s convenient, some of the dishes were great and some lacking (sausage’s) but that’s a personal preference. Recommend the scampi and homemade chips. Staff were attentive and food brought out piping hot. And for a Tuesday it certainly got busy. Get there early to find free parking in the back as will fill up rather quickly as I found last night.

We had a lovely light lunch here yesterday. We were greeted by a very friendly polite lady, who took our order. The jacket potatoes we had were perfectly cooked with a great choice of fillings with a fresh salad. The place was very clean with a great friendly atmosphere. Nice to go to a proper pub with home cooked unpretentious food.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to the staff of this lovely pub. Yesterday we stopped off as there was terrible traffic on our trip home and my three children were starving. They squeezed us in and we’re very helpful. They even brought us Uno cards whilst we waited. The burgers looked fantastic, really adult burgers as they were thick and juicy. Thanks ever so much.

This was our first visit to The Clock House, which was recommended by friends. Warm welcome on arrival, ordered drinks and was shown to our table. Order taken at the table, we all had 3 courses. Starters arrived after a short wait and were nicely presented and well cooked. Main course followed after a nice interval, Hunters Chicken was good and would highly recommend it. Meals are a good size, so when it came to puddings we decided to share one (bowl and 2 spoons) as the selection was very tempting and we wanted to try one. The waitresss offered to serve it as 2 half portions which we said yes to. Have never been offered this option in any other pub or restaurant, this place goes the extra mile to give good customer service. Nice country pub with a relaxing atmosphere and a large car park at the rear. Will definatly be back for more.🍻

Excellent well run local pub. Great hospitality and impeccable facilities. We had a traditional roast lunch which was very tasty. The owners did all they can to make us feel comfortable and the hospitality was exceptional. Free parking, great food and good selection of drinks. What more can you ask for. Also the beatiful beach of Seatown is a short walk down the road so well worth a visit.

Was staying in the village for a week on holiday and visited four times. Lovely beers and ciders, great food with many rotating specials. The friendliest pub in Dorset! Special mention must go to the pub quiz which was an absolute delight with questions for all ages and a lovely vibe for tourists and locals alike. What a gem!

Great for food and drink at reasonable prices. A must if you are staying at Golden Cap and only a short walk. Excellent too for games especially if the weather is a bit wet. Skittle alley, 5 dartboards + more

Stopped off on the way to Devon from a trip to France we sailed in to Portsmouth. It was a Sunday afternoon. The place was very cold and they only had one portion of the soup we wanted,a warm place and warm food is fairly basic. The staff were friendly and pleasant the guy behind the bar was really nice and friendly . It was very clean I know things are tough right now but don't make it tougher on yourselves . We have given 4 stars because we can see what it could be and what it probably once was

We visited the Clock House Inn as a party of 12 and were put in the “Alley” couldn’t have been better we had several games of skittles making as much noise as we liked. The service was exceptional, the waitress checked that she has 12 orders for drinks and all courses for 12 people. Great food we didn’t seem to wait very long. I had a fish pie and it was hot and delicious. A few of the party asked for alternatives to the pudding strawberry sauce instead of chocolate no problem at all. The staff checked in on us and for additional drinks orders and brought water for the dog, and also took photos for us. Thank you all for a great night and looking after us.

Went there for a skittles match only. A decent pint of doom bar served by a friendly barmaid. Apart from the skittles alley there were no other customers. As we left we were glared at by an older man sitting on the corner of the bar, who might well have been the owner. If so, I will give him the benefit of the doubt until next match
