Cafe is on the 1st floor of the book store Waterstones in Chichester. Window seats overlook the cathedral with plenty going on. There is a lift from the ground floor so those with mobility issues can get to it with without the stairs being an obstacle - toilet on the next floor up. Nice people and relaxed atmosphere. Can be busy so you may have to squeeze in but everyone is friendly. There is table service, so no queueing at the counter - which is so nice compared with most other coffee houses- and the scones are fresh, which is rare today. There is plenty of choice in Chichester but the Apple Cafe is very good and especially so if you are a book lover.
This is a small cafe situated on the first floor of Waterstones, This is the first place I head to for breakfast/brunch and coffee when visiting Chichester. Reasons:
Food: Excellent, all home-made with good ingredients. The scones are excellent, the coffee is strong and tasty, perfect for waking me up in the morning. There is a full range of cakes and shortbreads - flapjacks, raspberry and coconut slices, chocolate and caramel slices, lemon drizzle cake, chocolate chip shortbreads and more. The meals served are all breakfasts and lunches as they usually close at 4pm. These are all good quality and delicious. Gluten-free options available as noted by another reviewer.
Environment: Clean, hygienic, bright due to the large windows on one side letting sunlight in, cosy. Wonderful view of the Cathedral. Windows can be opened by customers for ventilation. The chairs and tables are all wood. Although it is a small cafe I always get a place. There's also the added bonus of this cafe being in a bookstore, so one has a wide range of books to read with coffee! Always nice. There is also a shelf on which the Waterstone's Top 10 books are displayed, to be taken down and mused through at one's pleasure.
Service: Some of the nicest I've ever met, friendly, courteous and helpful. Orders always arrive on time and with a smile.
Prices: Reasonable. Beverage prices are the same as you find elsewhere at £2 - £2.50 for a regular cup. Refill slightly cheaper. Meals are less than £10.

a quick google for the cafes in Chichester and here we are.
The cafe is on the second floor in Waterstones, just follow your nose as you climb the stairs!
We found a table for four and made our selection from the compact menu. All the usual tea, coffee and cold drink options you could possibly want but with that extra twist of quality that you don’t often find elsewhere. The food covers soups, quiches, pies, sandwiches hot and cold and more besides.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was fresh and really delicious with good sized portions.
A real find in the middle of Chichester.
Our only niggle was the single toilet up on the third floor that was suffering with the demands placed on it. Don’t let that put you off though!
We will be back!
The store is located at the top floor of Waterstones Book Store. It is hidden away so you need to enter the bookstore and climb the stairs. It is always packed due to its excellent service, good coffee and delicious cakes. There is also great selection of daily sandwiches, soups and snacks. A great place to combine love of books and a coffee.
Nice little spot with very friendly staff. The menu is small but everything is nice and tasty. The coffee is relaxed and unpretentious and a good selection of herbal/fruit teas. Gluten free options available also. 😊
Serving a home made selection of eats, coffee, tea, this garden centre tea room offers enough to compliment the attached Hilliers centre.
Hidden little gem which you can find upstairs in the Chichester Waterstones. You will be welcomed by a friendly team which supply a great selection of food and drink.
