The Eastgate Inn is the best pub for miles around, we started using it 11 years ago. And have had many a good night from live music, dj, karaoke to private party and charity events. Cathy, Emma and all the staff are very welcoming, friendly and professional. The real ales and guinness are always perfect, and the food is top quality. Although we moved out of the area 7 years ago we still class it as our local. Well done to the whole team.

14 years of pure pleasure. Started with Anne-Marie and Jonny, then Cath and Emma who continue to develop the friendly atmosphere, many different types use it from Rugby to Poker to Footie to Darts. An enviable beer festival each year and most of all the best team of ladies and the odd gent that they let in always ready to serve you with attitude. Don't think your special, they treat everybody the same. Nothing competes.

The Eastgate is an old fashioned pub with welcoming staff. There are not many pubs left that care about their patrons......but this one does! Serving excellent food with great hospitality........this is a rare little gem in what is left of the public house trade!

A proper 'Old School' pub. Warm and cosy. Always a good atmosphere. Friendly bar staff and a decent choice of Fullers ales, guest beers and pub food. Small beer garden at the rear, or sit at the front and watch the world go by.... Pool table and darts board. Occasional live music. Well run. I would recommend.

Ive been there on various occasions before and after having a meal in Chi with friends, the staff are always very welcoming and friendly. It's the kind of pub a woman on her own could walk into and have a drink without having any aggro. I've not eaten there but have heard the food is very good. Best pub in Chichester.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch the day before & it was all ready, with our name on it. Roast lunch with six veg was excellent, nicely served. Staff very friendly, drinks not expensive, strongly recommend.

Nice little cozy pub with both front and rear gardens. The staff is great. Very lively crowd and atmosphere. Not a college crowd kind of pub though. Awesome place to spend an evening.

Went to see Liz Angioni sing at this venue. It was a fabulous night. She is not only a singer but a great entertainer. A wonderful evening don't miss her next time she is at the easter gate.

We had lunch in a typical small pub, not at all fancy or posh, but they served basic good pub grub. I had a pint of Seafarers English ale, the first time I'd tried that, and a burger with chips and salad. When I went to the bar to order, an old boy, who looked he'd been sitting there since the pub opened that morning (it was about 1.30 in the afternoon when we were there), said to me: 'See - it takes an American to make good music, dunnit?' I looked puzzled, and he explained. 'That's American music [on the jukebox] and you're American, aren't you? I could tell when you walked in 'ere.' I said yes, I was. He asked me how long I was here for. I said I'd lived here for over 20 years. 'You 'aven't lost yer accent, 'ave you?' he replied. 'Why'd you want to move 'ere? You've got ever'thing over there, even Indians.' His friend said: 'Indians? D'you mean Red Indians?' 'Yeah,' replied the first man, 'Indians, they've got ever'thing over there. I've seen them John Wayne films.' I then said that my wife was English and didn't take to life in the US, so we moved here. He wished me well, and the barmaid smiled and gave me a knowing wink. I returned to our table and said to my wife:'I've got a new friend.' She said she saw what was going on and then rolled her eyes to the ceiling. Our food arrived in good time, and the staff checked afterwards to make sure everything was OK. Top marks for friendly service!

Great, proper local pub. Friendly staff, lots of live music. Posting a photo of, yes, the ladies room. Spotlessly clean, with thoughtful touches that indicate how genuinely the staff feel about making this pub a nice place to be!
